Fingers crossed England qualify

Even though I'm disappointed not to be available for England's World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Poland, the international break does give me a great chance to get myself fully fit to return for Crystal Palace's next match against Coventry on October 15.

At this stage I think there is a realistic chance I will make it because my recovery is going really well. The knee feels fine and I already have a full range of movements with it, which is brilliant. As far as I'm aware I'm bang on course to make a quick return.

At the moment I'm spending most of my time pounding away on the exercise bike and doing weights in the gym. It's not much fun but it has to be done, I'm afraid. My next aim is to be running by the middle of this week, or at the worst by Friday. The physio doesn't want to push me too hard too soon, but all being well I reckon I could be running pretty hard by the weekend.

If that happens it would give me seven days of full training before the Coventry match, which I hope will be enough. I really hate missing games. The sooner I can get back out there in a Palace shirt the better.

In the meantime I will be keeping my fingers crossed that England get the two wins we need to qualify for the World Cup finals. Our last match was a bad one, but I'm still very confident that the boys will do what they have to do this week and get six points. I can't imagine any other scenario really.

If we do qualify, I'll be doing everything I can between now and the end of the season to force my way into the final squad. It won't be easy because there are plenty of quality strikers out there, but I think I have a chance as long as I'm scoring goals for Palace.

I can't believe that a Championship striker is considered for the team ahead of 40 odd premiership strikers :nono:

I hope the bloke never plays for England again. He's a one season wonder. don't even know why I'm replying to a scummer and a shit thread, must be pissed.
I think you`ll find if you take a good look at yourself you`ll realise you`re a foul mouthed prick and not much to contribute on here.

Can you name 40 English strikers who play in the Premiership? Sadly most of them are foreigners, otherwise AJ would't get a look in.

Kevin Phillips
Luke Moore
Emile Heskey
David Bentley
Kevin Davies
Jason Euell
Carlton Cole
Marcus Bent
James Vaughan
Neil Mellor
Robbie Fowler (not that Sven would pick him!)
Darius Vassell
Andrew Cole
Bradley Wright Phillips
Alan Shearer (retired)
Shola Ameobi
Jonanthan Stead
Geoff Horsfield
Kevin Campbell
Nathan Ellington
Teddy Sheringham
Marlon Harewood
Bobby Z

23 including Shearer. I would pick 3 of them ahead of Johnson, 4 if Shearer decides he wants to play again.

Nice eloquent argument there  :nono:

I hope he's not fit until December, it'll give us one less thing to worry about.

wheres Owen?
Rooney?
Crouch?

and I would pick from
Emile Heskey
Marcus Bent
Darius Vassell
Alan Shearer
Alan Smith
and AJ

Prob Smith.

Though I dont think Johnson is bad and could well have been in the squad if he hadnt stayed with the pikeys though blame Jordan for that and Eriksons shite tactics playing him on the wing ruining his chances. Hes also not as big a diver as people make out. shit must still be pissed from last night

Already in the squad aren't they.

I'd pick Heskey, Vassell and Carlton Cole and then Johnson. Alan Smith is a midfielder now.
