Heskey is proven at a higher level than Johnson and IMO is a decent player who, went confident, could play at the highest level. Vassell is playing well for man City and has never done anything wrong in an England shirt. Carlton Cole is a great prospect and adds pace and skill to the attack.

Johnson is a good player, granted, but ain't all that.

Heskey and Vassell have had numerous opportunities for England have they not? Johnson on his debut gets stuck in right midfield and is told go and do your stuff son! He is a striker FFS ok if he is given a chance and doesnt take it by all means dont pick him but come on!

I'd pick Heskey, Vassell and Carlton Cole and then Johnson. Alan Smith is a midfielder now.

I never thought I'd want Heskey back though I think he could do a job for us now. Dunno about Cole, and I know Smith is playing midfield now though I'd still stick him in our top 5/6 strikers.

Personally I think Heskey and Owen should still be starting up front together. I think they play well together and Heskey certainly adds something extra.

Johnson is another short striker in the 'Owen mould' and does not really give an option.
