Fathers Day - what did you get YOUR dad ?

I was in Asda this evening and noticed one aisle was particularly crowded. Took a slight detour to investigate; it was the card section. I then realised it was fathers' day again tomorrow. Stood there staring at them for several seconds, then sadly turned away. You see, Dad died in 1985 when I...

If anyone does end up on one of these buses, it's worth knowing that Althorpe Station is the same distance walking to the ground as from Scunthorpe (although there is no public transport from there.)

    Setanta Loses Premier League Rights

I agree, and I also cannot see them paying for routine live Premiership football when they are under pressure for paying huge salaries to the likes of Ross.

Unexpected breakthrough for advanced prostate cancer sufferers

I wonder how many will die in the time it takes for this drug to get lincensed? From the BBC: Researchers are probing an unexpected success in a study of an experimental treatment for prostate cancer. In three men with advanced disease, use of an immune drug called ipilimumab, shrank their...

    AFC Wimbledon Pre Season Friendly

I have some distinctly unfond memories of driving down to New Malden for an FA Cup defeat at the hands of your tenants, so won't be standing on those shallow terraces for a while yet! Is the article paid for in any way? Why not just choose from the dozens of coherent long posts on NSC?(if you...

    Train enquiry sites

The train ticketing system is a farce. Yet learn how to play it, using hidden tricks, and you'll save a fortune. For example, in just a few minutes, you can cut the London to Penzance return fare from the £260 listed as cheapest to around £50. This is a full step-by-step guide to railroading...

    Scunthorpe away

Further to the above, I've just checked, and engineering work between Doncaster and Scunthorpe does not make this very viable. You can get trains from Sheff to Donny (£4.70 return) arriving 13.40 at the latest; not sure if this is in time to catch a bus to Scunny, though.
