Of course you should but I guess the council are covering their arses. If they don't take action on things like this then they are leaving themselves wide open to being sued by employees who are forced to go into the homes of people who are smoking whilst they are there.

To be honest I've never really paid any attention to the dates on food. Generally if it looks and smells ok then I eat it and that philosophy has served me well this far.
In fairness though I don't believe I've ever been faced with anything 18 months out of date before so I've got to admit it...
