Yeah rather than edward st you would use carlton hill and up to queens park road but you start zig zagging too much and people think you are taking the mick, like some of the posters here.
You don't know yorkie do you? He drove a cab and worked for council planning. Strange but true
Taxi drivers don't go that way because it costs more money, it may be quicker but longer and the meter will measure the distance. Sort of blows your argument out the water.
drivers have no control over the rate, the meters have calendars in them which turn the rate on and off automatically. The council set and seal every meter.
You say a 'slight cost to the industry' but in the end I left because I was not earning enough money and the council kept issuing more licences and wants all cars to be disabled access - I couldn't afford to run a cheap car, the disabled london cars cost £36 000. You couldn't get on the ranks...
Unfortunately there is no case to answer as you are going out of the city boundary the journey does not by law have to be done on the meter, you can legally barter with the driver when going out of the city but must be done on the meter when within. I was a taxi driver and would always do those...
You seem to be tarring all drivers with the same brush, i was a cab driver and got out of it because of the competition - certainly no monopoly by one group or company. I didn't hate tuc tucs, but if you want to believe the Argus we were at war. And i didn't try to rip off anyone over insurance...
definitely save it for when we are up against it. Sounded good though - even my 4 year old was joining in - although he does sing 'sussex by the sea' better and louder than most.
I think you are paranoid that cab drivers are trying to rip you off for 20p when it is not in their interest, I think you should get the bus and stop hassling cab drivers for 20p
Taxi drivers earn more money by doing jobs quickly and getting onto the next fare or in the rank queue. The meter clocks up £2.40 every time they put it on much more than messing around with 20p here and there
