England have been saying for years that they wanted to bring players and coaches through the system, and with the players there's evidence that it's worked. Either they stick to their guns and appoint Carsley, or what's the point? It worked for Spain

Southgate‘s football is not heavy on possession, did you watch the Euros? Even against the poorer teams we didn’t dominate possession and the finals against Spain/Italy were under 35%
Potter’s teams do dominate possession, and he takes a lot of risks with bold decisions trying to win games.

It’s always somebody else’s fault with Potter the guy hasn’t achieved anything in English football. With Potter it’s what ifs. What if Chelsea didn’t have a billion £ squad, what if Brighton had spent £40m on a striker. Finished 12th in the championship & mid table with an a very good squad at Brighton that’s, it big wows.

Potter is made for it, I also think he’s been waiting for it! His family live here, he doesn’t want to move them, he’s a very good coach and I bet if you asked any Albion player who played under him, he’s got the Southgate man management skill that is required and he would pick his own players, unlike at Chelsea where really he was a rabbit in the headlights with all the madness they threw at him. I would not be at all disappointed if they went for him!

I've watched a lot of the U21s recently, and unlike the seniors in recent months, they have been an absolute joy to watch under Carsley.
He also managed to do what Southgate failed to when he was in charge of the U21s, and win the Euros.

I think Potter would be more of the same.
I'd be a very happy bunny with Klopp.
But, I'd love the FA to throw a curve ball and appoint McKenna. A young manager who is yet to be worn down and might hopefully be braver in strategy.

FWIW - don’t give a f*** if Potter gets the England job or not. But England will have a discernible style of play if he gets the gig and there might be some players available to him that could reliably put the ball in the onion bag (a problem for him at the Amex and Shitford Bridge).

With Potter, we'd either not qualify or at best not get out of the group stage. We'd pass a team to death, have numerous chances, but not put it in the back of the net. The opposite of Southgate's England, who were clutch when they needed to be.
I'm gutted Gareth has gone but it was inevitable (win or lose on Sunday). Klopp is the only genuinely exciting manager on that list who plausibly could accept the job and could do all the things and England manager needs to do: unite the nation, bring players together as a father-figure and get the best out of them.
