Well, actually I was more worried about whether the Beef in my meal was organic and had been slaughtered in a humane way which kind of led in to worrying about whether the Egg in my Egg Fried Rice was free range and so did not suffer the heartbreak of battery farming..
While I was considering these things I was asked for £6.40 to pay for this luxury meal by the skiny Chinese kid behind the counter. I immediately worried if he was being exploited and had been people-trafficked in to provide virtual slave labour.
So, my dilemma was, do I pay him and sanction his sufferance in servitude ? or do I refuse and run the risk that he eventually joins a Triad such as the Snake-Heads and starts people trafficking young vulnerable Chinese people because he could not earn a decent living through hard work? I was juggling whether it was good for the economy in the form of cheaper Mussels, 7 stone prositutes and a seasonal boon for funeral directors in Cumbria when my food arrived...
so, I made my excuses and left
