Wallace has no chance and is assisting the reds downfall being in charge.

Cameron I would mark about 6 out of 10, must make more decent offers to the mainstream.

Clegg was and still is a complete joke

UKIP will gain the most from the next general election.

You also missed something else, the unelectability of the Labour party (I wonder if that will be a factor too in 2015?)

The vote in 1983 was Tories 13,012,316. Labour 8,456,934 and SDP/Alliance 7,780,949. It was the stab in the back from the Gang of Four and the split in the anti-Tory that allowed Thatcher back in.

The Tories failed to win the 2010 election when any half competent opposition party should have walked it, they have no chance of winning in 2015. The Liberals have been exposed as little more then Tories in sandals.

Labour will win with at least a 40 seat majority over all other parties.

You obviously haven't seen the news today then and the shambles of the UKIP conference ? All women are sluts is going to pick up a lot of the floating female vote I think

Exactly, the Tories on their own are unelectable. If they can't win an overall majority after a hate campaign by the press against Brown how will they win enough seats to win this time ?

I don't know about that, they'd still have Ed Balls and Harriet Harman - two good reasons never to vote for this Labour party.

I fancy David might not have made the fatal error of appointing Balls as Shadow Chancellor. The nearer we get to the election and the more the economic recovery gathers pace the more ridiculous Balls will look.

Not for most of it no and as it's policies drifted further to the left over the next 4 years, the less votes it received, which was one of the factors that led to the Tories massively increasing their majority at the next election.

Labour didn't drift further to the left , it was the Tories who drifted further to the right making it appear there was a widening chasm in between.

UKIP will dilute the Tory vote and with the LDs crippled by their coalition experience, Labour will win with a small majority.

What I'm not clear on is what happens if the Scots vote to leave the Union. If the Scottish Labour Westminster MPs were required to stand down when they left (presumably some time after the referendum and general election) it could well remove a Labour Government overnight?

I have and to be fair it will be easily forgotten, Farage hits the right notes for quite a few people these days.

You would think so wouldn't you but the average UKIP supporter will have loved 'today's events'!

I have and to be fair it will be easily forgotten, Farage hits the right notes for quite a few people these days.

But that's precisely the problem: UKIP supporters lap this stuff up and, if anything, it will harden their support. In the wider world, it's not good publicity, as a minority party UKIP has got to sweep up millions of uncommitted voters and if you insult half of them, it's not doing any good for their image. The UKIP shouldn't be hitting the right notes for a few people, it needs to hit the right notes for a lot of them and they're just a bit out of tune

Is this the same 'Ed The red' that is trying to reform Union/Labour Party links to an unprecedented scale?

You need to read a more up to date Janet and John do politics book.

Dream on......the dye is cast.,..Ed is a lame duck.

I vote because my old grandad used to tell me how people fought for democracy and the right to vote so I will always make the effort to vote. Right now, I'd probably still vote to keep what we currently have/Tory mainly as in my limited, I admit, political knowledge I think they are slowly bringing the country out of its downward spiral and things are beginning to turn around and also, for me bringing labour back would be a big mistake + there are no realistically electable parties

100% this

I think you're forgetting that the main attraction of voting UKIP is to get out of the EU - many people see that as an important step and will ignore other "issues" with the party.

Rubbish - abstaining is a perfectly valid option when there are crap candidates.

It's for this reason that voting should be compulsory with the 'none of the above' option on the ballot paper (with the caveat that it should be illegal for anyone to change their name by deed poll to 'None of the Above'! I suspect that far more people don't vote because they can't be bothered rather than because they are registering their protest at the lack of viable candidates.

I disagree - I vote in local and general elections but refuse vote in the Police Commissioners elections because they are a farce. Voting should never be forced on people as it suggests everyone agrees with the process. Anyway, do you really want to make criminals of people just because they don't want to put an X on a bit of paper ?

It's for this reason that voting should be compulsory ...

being compelled to participate in vote is an oxymoron. you really think it will improve the quality of candidates magically because a minority can protest with "NotA"? the way to deal with voter apathy is minimm turnout, to make the candidates engae with the constituency and work to get the vote out. across 5 constituencies i've lived i have never met or seen my MP, im not sure ive even seen any canvessers beyond the highstreet.
