Morning Harry, well You don't like Yes so I would be interested to hear your opinion of the other Prog Gods Pink Floyd?

Personally I loved most things they did 1967-75 i.e. up to Wish You Were Here. I'm clearly a bit weird as my favourite is the widely reviled Atom Heart Mother.

After they became Roger Water's Backing Band on the Wall they became pretty well unlistenable?

Same, Atom Heart is my favourite and I find Roger Waters from the Wall on unlistenable

I agree. The Wall is an abomination. Normally I like a children's choir on a record, Supertramp, Dave Sinclair (of Caravan), Talk Talk (Happiness is easy), but not when they sound like actor kids from Byker Grove.

I can take or leave the Syd Barrett era Floyd, but I own (on CD) Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle and (my favourite) Obscured by clouds (which I also have on vinyl).

I remember sitting in the music loft (yes, a music loft, with carpet and Big Speakers) round my mate's house when I was 12 (ironically we knew him as 'H') listening to Floyd, while he patiently explained to me that they were not musicians but electricians. :lolol:

It's a tap in

:goal:

A big favourite of my ex wife. She once paid a tout £200 for a ticket to see him in London. It was a fake ticket

I'll give you 8/10 for that. I've never liked him. In his favour, he didn't record the very most hideous version of Hallelujah.

As a singer songwriter, for me, he's right up there with the very most self-regarding and tedious.

Any you honestly like him? ???

I'll give you ten for that. Nail. Head.

And you like it? Crikey! :lolol:

Haha ... well I kind of did when I bought the album when it originally came out which seems like 100 years ago now!

It was at the time when I was starting to migrate away from Genesis ... as like you, I prefer the Peter Gabriel era - although I would extend that to Steve Hackett era as I do like A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering. Some of And Then There Were Three was 'OK' ... maybe a couple of tracks off of Duke ... but it was obvious the direction they were taking.

Do I listen to it now? Absolutely not ... but I knew it would get a good score from you :D

A bit of the late, great Leonard Cohen should press a few buttons.

Apologies, I replied to the reply. So you can honestly describe yourself as a fan? I find that hard to believe. Unless you're a lady.

I was dragged off by the ex wife to watch Nureyev in one of his last performances in London many many years ago. It didn't take me long to realise the place was squelching with women of a certain age and disposition . I fear that Cohen has the same constituency

God there's some MOR dross on here :wozza:

This one is not because HWT would hate it, but because I think the song title sums up this thread. Also contains the immortal HMHB line "I could put a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki" (for fans of 1970s wrestling).

99% of gargoyles look like Bob Todd. ???

Agree about MOR. Of course I don't like MOR.

But neither should anyone else who claims to like music. I have a feeling that people aren't doing this properly. Fancy that!
