'the police have a person in custody'

....sounds like a 'fact' to me...

Feel free to post the link for your 'source'....instead of trying to wriggle out of it, why dont you just admit, your source was the BNP?

I posted rumour, not fact......When the media come out with the story of who bombed the place at Muswell Hill, my "rumour", might become a fact, my "if" might become a definite, til then keep your powder dry and be patient.

No, you posted it as a fact that there was an arrest, and it was rumoured to be a muslim...

Feel free to post a link to your source...you seem VERY reluctant, and its looking very suspicious now.

'the police have a person in custody' (dosnt sound like a rumour to me? It does look as though you are presenting it as FACT)

Why are you ashamed to reveal your 'source' to the news of an arrest Soulman?

Patient now, but quick to give news of an arrest..haha

Then you really have to just keep to what you read then, and that depends on the media sources that you read as to your opinion.

I have posted a video of things which I am assuming are similar. As you don't seem to want to confirm if they are similar i will comment on them and see how it flies.

Obviously harassing people in the street is not okay but it is also not only limited to Muslims. I had a friend at school who used to enjoy partaking in 'Gay Bashing' with a bunch of other ****wits who would go into Brighton of a Friday and Saturday night and beat up some poofs.

I am not sure that videos of idiots harassing people is any sign of a Muslim invasion or a Jihad Rape epidemic. It is simple a bunch of idiots trying to force their ideals on others. Much the same as my mate at school.

Watching a video of something happening is just as susceptible to bias as reading an editorial.

nowadays your mate would have the full weight of the law and public opinion against him. the problem is you will have a large swathe of the population far more wary of criticizing any muslim harassment of gay people than white Brightonians (this happened a lot in Brighton not so long ago youngsters, it hasnt always been as tolerant and left leaning as it is now. Kids used to fire air rifles into the bushes at Dukes Mound.).

The police may prosecute indiscriminately, and rightly so, but we do have a culture where there is a reticence to criticize certain sections of the 'community' on an equal footing, based on the prevailing culture of recent decades that these communities need added protection and to be treated with kid gloves.

We dont have any more time for wishful thinking about community relations in this country, Woolwich WAS the day everyone dreaded. Things will not go back to normal any more.

Anyone else read or reading Nadeem Aslam's 'The Blind Man's Garden'? Good innit.

Love does not make lovers invulnerable. But even if the world's beauty and love are on the edge of destruction, theirs is still the only side to be on. Hate's victory does not make it other than what it is. Defeated love is still love.

Odd then that Blacks and Asians are proportionately more likely to be subject to stop and search, be refused bail and receive harsher disposals.

more likely than who?

you have to be very careful with these stats, they can be very misleading. and are often deliberately used so. In Lewisham in 2013, for example, with a very high ethnic minority population, black and white figures search and arrest figures were almost identical. the national figures can be wildly misrepresentative of individual areas, when the vast national white middle class is poured in to distort them, often for political reasons.

i am not denying that stop and search may not be applied indiscriminately, and there has certainly historically been issues with police harassment of ethnic minorities. No one can deny that. But hamstringing police in areas of high crime due to historical injustices is a dangerous road to go down.

This is a little out of date but it's the MoJ's own figures: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa..._data/file/172542/stats-race-cjs-2010.pdf.pdf

What is the alternative to trying to heal community relations? It seems that the radicals within Islam and on this thread are intent on having a war between the west and Islam. Surely most people would agree that this would be the worst possible outcome and the only real option to halt this is to improve relation between us.

Otherwise what are the options?

i am certainly all for healing community relations. i just feel a more robust bedside manner is required. people dont realise that this is a rapidly developing counter culture in this country, and are not quite grasping that this is being adopted by people with no family tradition of islam, but merely, like the woolwich fellas, for the reason that it is anti establishment and anti the host or dominant culture.

the problem is, it can be incubated where there is a lack of integration and a hardening and separation of communities. multiculturalism as a policy, the lazy cheap cowardly option to planned migration and integration, has led to this current scenario. blaming british foreign policy, and idly sneering at the white british people living at the interface who have the temerity to complain, is utterly insane.

i want more than anything for people to live in harmony, and dread the thought of england slipping into a segregated society. but the shambolic, deluded, lazy, greedy and selfish approach we have had to managing our society and immigration is to blame, and something we should be ashamed of.

So this is more a social problem brought about by the GFC, our general attitude to wealth distribution and a general disregard for the general public. Maybe this is what needs to be addressed.

Not sure if you are accusing me of idly sneering at Soulman and redhill Seagulls but they are hardly at the interface in Redhill and Sompting, Redhill at a stretch but Sompting!!?? To me the misinformation and hate supplied by these fellas in their last flurry of links is doing more to encourage a war between the west and Islam than any Muslim I have ever met.

To ignore the effect of Western foreign policy and assume that we should not accept any of the blame for the situation is also utterly insane. If we really want to situation to improve we need to open dialogue with Islam not demonise it.

Their certainly does need to be some changed in the way that society runs itself I am just not sure that demonising Muslims is the best starting point. All I see happening is that more moderate Muslims are pushed into the hands of the radicals and the cycle keeps on going.

You are sneering though BF, from 12,000 miles away. Do you think that i do not go outside Sompting, in the last few years i have worked in London, Crawley, Croydon, Brighton, and have worked and lived in the Midlands, and worked in the North. I think i might have a better view than you that lives across the other side of the world.
Obviously you do not have to worry what happens over here really....for some who live here and have their roots and their children growing up here, they feel they have cause to worry, some here feel they have no cause to worry and obviously argue and debate against my opinions. You need not worry the Aussie government seem to have your best interests at heart.
Although the vast majority of us and England have no problems with other religions or colours, such as Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists etc, no trouble from the many Chinese, Thais, Indians, Filipinos etc...in fact most Asians, i'm afraid the Muslims are trouble.
As stated the BBC and most other medias just report say 6 men arrested, some will put Asian (which annoys and stigmatises the Asians mentioned) instead of Muslim. The bombings, the grooming, the sharia courts, the no go areas are all muslim. Sad but true.

Fine , if you truly feel this is the case can we please dispense with all this "they are as British as you and me " Bollox , at best their loyalties are divided ,at worst they feel a stronger attachment to their religion than to their so called nationality .
