[Albion] Yes we have injuries but tactically that was garbage, again.

It’s very difficult to break down a very well organised team playing for the draw. Did Brentford’s full backs ever make it out their box? The vast majority of teams in the EPL would have drawn that one unless they’d got a bit of luck (which we never do).
The penalty would have been the luck IMHO

We were so poor tonight. Too slow, laborious and lacking ambition. If we win tonight we go 7th. Instead we went backwards, sideways and never tried to take on a man.

People will point to possession stats and shots and RDZ will say we deserved to win but we didn’t.

In the last six games we have scored 3 goals. Two individual wonder strikes and an own goal.

Yes we are short of attacking players but pace of play, tactics and formation are on the coach and tonight just didn’t work, as with too many games recently.

This is not a RDZ out post, nowhere near, but if that had been Potter he would have been slaughtered. We needed a win, we didn’t ever look like getting one and it wasn’t good enough.
It's the Premier league version of Poyet ball.

A keeper + 10 Dale Stephens

Frank literally played an 7-3-0, except for rare counter attacks. The 7 glued to a ‘line’ 20 yards out.

Watching Villa lose just now, lots of similarities between the games.

The difference; Foden, Rodri.l

Albion teams through all the ages, even under Saint Potter, just don’t beat mass low blocks. Fact.
I think even Mitoma would have been sucked into dead ends... but we missed him.

Well I quite enjoyed it as it reminded me of the Potter years! 😂

But in all seriousness, I thought we were decent. Very solid and some good passages of play that created a number of chances we just unfortunately didn’t take against a team that totally outplayed Man Utd a few days ago.

Great to see Joao Pedro back too. I’m definitely glass half full about tonight.

Exactly this. They parked the bus a few days after attacking United. How much does that say about how we are viewed these days?

Brentford thought Seven Hag and his players were footballing non-entities, then weirdly set up the whole team to stifle us.

Who would’ve thought that.

They set up well tbh - showed us a lot of respect like we are Man City or their equivalent and limited any space. I was surprised tbh they were quite so negative. We were not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but tactics were not the major issue. We have a team with fantastic potential but it is still mainly that and they didn’t have the nouce of the top sides when it comes to breaking such negative tactics down. Was always going to be a game of if we scored first we prob would have won comfortably but we didn’t and we didn’t. Improvement defensively recently has been good as in all honesty this is a game we would probably lose a month or 2 back

Mitoma 2022/23 was incredible but as the season progressed teams triple marked him. Leaving space we exploited elsewhere.

This is astonishing and didn’t happen by luck.

This lot had 80+ touches in United’s box at the weekend. They had about 6 in ours tonight. They were 10 times more cautious against our club than Manchester f***ing United. Calm the f*** down.
That’s also indicates that they have a plan A and a plan B … and probably a plan C if needed. I think BHA lack that.

Since RBZ started sulking after the Jan window shut and started digging out TB after every loss, we have been toothless! As a team, when he was happy and wanted to be here the players ran through brick walls for him. Now he wants out the players are reflecting his attitude!
It's not just tonight its been like this for a long time and it isn't just about injuries, it's about attitudes!

Actually, I remember going through almost exactly the same phase with Potter. The problem is, as soon as Potter worked it out he f***ed off to Chelsea thinking he’d cracked football management and the trophies would roll right in.

I trust in RDZ to be pragmatic enough to adapt, though it may take him some time. My fear is that he Potters off and gives a different team the benefit of his newfound knowledge.

Potterish in many ways

Buonotte and adingra not at it and no one else to take anyone on wide
It was piss poor Potterball. We seldom looked that inept and clueless under Potter. Not one meaningful shot that tested the keeper, most were no better than back passes. Didn’t Potterball produce far more shots on target than we had tonight?

adingra has absolutely zero confidence right now,
Weird isn't it - because against Liverpool he was fantastic in the first half till he tired. But tonight - just nothing really, and as you say - looked low on confidence and didn't really take anyone on.

We played differently and more direct when Enciso, Lamptey & Welbeck came on. Bart also went long more than usual. Brentford were desperate for one break to get behind us. It didn’t happen.

Oh this just isn’t true at all. It’s really not.
We all have our opinions and yes yes I think it is true. That was up there with the most inept performance a Potter team ever produced, and much worse than most. Pure and utter negative garbage, we didn’t look vaguely like scoring.

Suck it up and move on to Arsenal

Definitely the latter. I like RDZ and I hope he stays. But in a season where Mac Allister, Caicedo, Mitoma and March were available to play most games (along with the likes of Dunk etc, just highlighting those we’ve missed this season) we were a bloody good team.
I think we underachieved last season.
