I thought he was electric when he came on, and although he doesn’t always make the right choice he makes things happen. Should’ve had an assist if one of Ayari or Mitoma had anticipated his ball across the six yard box a bit better.

Useful having such pace in defence as well.
That was a shot, hit it way too hard….

I think our forward players will look a lot better when we have a proper number 9 on the pitch. Finding space between the defenders is lacking in our attack play and receiving the ball to set up our attacks.

I love Joao Pedro but he is too all over the place for a 9.... Brilliant for a 10 though.

To be fair it was almost identical to his assist for Mitoma’s goal against Everton the first weekend of the season.
That was with his other foot I believe and he drove to the line (from memory)….
I could be wrong though.

From our angle everyone around me also thought he’d gone for goal.

Still think he’s shit and need to be proved wrong. Certainly not a £30-35m player.

I have also just credited Webster on the other thread before anyone thinks I’m a negative only poster.
Shit is a little harsh 😃, but given the reputation and what we paid, I was also expecting more. Very one footed and just fast from what I can see.

Hopefully he’ll improve with more games.

I’ve given him many chances but he just seems to always make the wrong pass or run into dead ends.
Hopefully I’ll eat my words but don’t think he’s up to it.
A bit of this, but not *always*. I thought he was a very strong attacking threat, but just tried a bit too hard at times.

I've no doubt he'll come good, though.

He’s talented but just never seems to pass. That was clearly a shot. People talk of decision making but that seems to be a euphemism for him being way too selfish. I think if that can be trained out of him, he’ll be superb.

Hes quite a blunt instrument, but in this context his introduction helped change the game. Much more for his physical efforts, closing down and pace than his ability though. Thought his whipped in free kick was good as well.

I’m not overly impressed either and refuse to go along with the hype; he’s not even a starter. Huge scope for improvement especially decision making as several posters said tonight again.

I guess the problem is, non of our much vaunted wide players are guaranteed starters. Mitoma aside. They've all got strengths and weaknesses.

When it was solly and mitoma, you knew what was happening.

Gruda - technically proficient, bags of potential and lightweight.

Rutter - great hold up play and physicality, blows hot and cold.

Minteh - rapid, dangerous, totally haphazard on the ball, poor final decision making

Adingra - (for me the weakest of the lot) bad defensively, completely not composed, shins great chances in the air, scores a worldy every 15 games.

Kadioglu - 🤷

They could all be marvelous, but they could all be average with the wrong direction. I've got the highest hopes for Gruda personally. As a player but not on the wing.

His role was interesting tactically yesterday. I thought the first half, where we spent a lot of time counter attacking, he’d have been perfect.

When he came on second half and we controlled much more of the ball, Gruda would’ve been perfect.

In the end, neither played especially well.

Excellent summary.

I would say Kadioglu is absolute class, even in a few appearances (excluding the first 😂)…..
