Back in Sussex
Popped out to my local Tesco where the queues were bigger than normal, in that there were actually cars waiting.

Curiously no-one was waiting at the 'Pay@Pump' so I drove up and filled up and was soon heading away. That means I can not get back to Sussex tomorrow. Will I be able to get back to Somerset on Saturday evening though?

Blimey - not sure what to suggest then!!! My mother in law is supposed to be driving down from Rochdale on Monday to stay for a few days - might have to suggest she doesn't bother now!!!

I just about crawled back from Newhaven today although it was touch and go. I passed several petrol station's and they either had huge queue's or had cones and no petrol left sign's.

As it stands I cannot move from Spielberg Towers in North Southwick tomorrow now so I am asking where can anyone get any sodding petrol tomorrow ?

Thank's to the government minister this morning telling everyone to go to a petrol station and fill their tanks up today.

What a shambles.

:(

If you were that desperate why didn't you just add one more car to the queue, no problem.

Badly handled. I saw the minister on the breakfast news this morning telling everyone to go today and fill their tanks up.

I'm sorry? You saw a minister on the news this morning saying this? I'm not even a Tory and I find this hard to believe. Are you sure? 100%?

They were in the main road causing a traffic hazard by then so I drove on hoping the station along the OSR approaching Southwick would ok. Same story.

Which minister, which show and what time? There will be whole heaps of context missing from your version of events.

At the very worst it would have been something like "If you need petrol and there is no wait then you should top up if you can." It would not have been, as you're suggesting, a directive that everyone should fill their tanks ASAP.

Maybe it's on youtube but I am sure I did not imagine it although it was early so maybe it's all in my mind.

I reckon the government are covering up other bad news by escalating the petrol crisis. Its bad where I am too.

Anyone who helped vote that bungling incompetent into power, should be ashamed.
It's the 1st time I've known a government to actively encourage people to panic buy.

Agree with you young Slick.

The jerry can debacle sums it up for me.

Out of interest, the BP by Brooklands today was actually quieter than normal, but that may be down to number of hot pasties they sell ( or not anymore).

Firstly, I did fill up but then I was on less than a quarter tank and as my car is my job, need to ensure I can work. Secondly, I suspect the Tories are playing a blinder, stirring up anti union feeling when there is absolutely no necessity. Whose talking about the budget now?

It will be at least 7 days before any strike so anyone that has topped up a tank on the basis of the comments from the government will almost certainly use up that tank full before any strike so they have to go through it again.

Next we'll be hearing about a sugar shortage because the unions are threatening action or some other dispute that's going to affect our normal lifestyles.

Think the Tories welcome the bad publicity they are getting for this as it is better than the publicity they were getting last week!!!

... maybe it's all in my mind.
Hmmm. I went to my local petrol station this time last night and quite forgot to fill up. Maybe it was the absence of queues or the fact that there seemed to be enough fuel in the tank to keep going without worrying. Bought some fags, though. Have you SEEN what's happened to the price?

I blame the government. Or maybe it's all in my mind, too.
