[Football] Wrap Up Warm on Saturday

My ski jacket keeps me warm at -8 in the Alps, with just a T shirt underneath, but strangely in the UK, with all that dampth (which is turbo damp), I need a fleece as well.

In Alps (or Colorado/Alberta), I’ve very rarely felt the cold down to -20c.

Yet I felt cold (in more ways than one) during that second half against Newcastle. Always cold at football matches in the winter, with ski layers on.

Put it down to the damp maritime cold …. goes through to your bones.

I used to spend some time in NE Scotland in the winter and sometimes I thought my face was going to fall off
with the cold. I'll be the one in shorts and t-shirt on Sat.

I’ll be fine on our sofa, with a zero seconds commute.

Alright for you. It's a three second commute for me.

But it will be dry, and warm at 75f

I hear you, watching my daughter train on Saturday morning for two hours, then do the weekly shop, then off to the match, get home go to bed and back up early for the local derby of Galaxy Girls v Hawks at 9:30am for a 10am kick off !!

Think I might spend Sunday afternoon sat by the radiator with a plate full of crumpets and a hot chocolate, watching programmes about moving to a warmer climate.

Raynaud’s Syndrome makes winter Amex games a real test at times. I’ve done 3 pairs of thick socks, plus Thinsulate boots and drummed my feet continually on the concrete for 90 minutes and I’ve still got two numb, bloodless blocks of ice down there. Not pleasant. More generally I’d definitely recommend wearing some form of base layer leggings under jeans. Really does help. Failing that, roll up a Damart catalogue and shove it up your arse, the stewards never search up there.

Indeed,the commute to the fridge and back should go smoothly

Whereas the more committed amongst us will be sitting in the fridge that is the Amex during the game, and commuting to the relative warmth of the drafty concourse to warm up at half time.

From memory it was never cold on terraces - provided there was a roof on top! Jogging up and down on the spot and the surges when we scored at the Goldstone were brilliant and kept everyone warm.

Same here, hands get really painful. Try some electrically heated socks and gloves - they are absolute lifesavers. Loads on Amazon.

These are amazing. Only had to use them once on a -20c and windy ski holiday, but colder folk swear by them.
