[Misc] Would you time travel to the past or to the future?

I would go to the past... maybe not very far as I like to wipe my arse with toilet paper and be able to put a beer in the fridge. Somewhere between 1950 and 1990.

The future... not a fan, all of the possible directions seem like utter shit for someone like me who believes this whole digital revolution shit is a big fat mistake. The future could go **** itself.

I'd go to the future to see just how dystopian and blade runnery it would be.

I'd only go the past if I had a tardis like machine that i could stay in. If I did I'd pop back to ancient Greece and have a look around.

I'd go back in time. I'd imagine the further back you go the more dangerous it is but I'd still love to visit ancient Roman cities and places like that. The future ain't looking too rosy on our current trajectory.

Despite being curious, I wouldn't really want to go back to any time in the distant past before the advent of modern medicine, public hygiene and clean and running water.

If I were being smart I would go to the near future, see all that happens and then return and use it to my advantage.
However, I would much rather visit the past, so many details we don’t know that I could find out. So many events I could witness.

Dystopian maybe yes, Blade Runnery no. I can't see cities of the future looking like they do in films because it would mean virtually destroying every building and infrastructure that exists.

I'm big into technology so I would love to see what comes along after I die. I suspect VR will be massive. I have a VR headset and already I can see it becoming massively addictive due to it's possibilities.

Just watched the last series of Lost Railway Lines. Going back to ride some of those would be fun, but I wouldn't mind seeing The Beatles at The Hippodrome. I know I wouldn't hear much, but a good one to add to the list.

If you're not moving forwards, what's the f**king point?

Whats the point with moving forward?

For a very long time there was no "past" or "future" for anyone, just "now". After that, for a while, the majority thought "the future is going to be ****ing shit or at best just like now", as mirrored in the big religions. The idea that the future is good, growth is eternal and whatnot is a new concept starting off 500 years ago or so with the scientific revolution and the new - and according to me equally flawed - belief that humans are gods and capable of shaping our own destiny and doing the wise thing to keep us healthy, happy and sustainable. Whether "the future is bad" or "the future is good" is true is up for debate, the natural state of our species is however to be in the present.

This question has been done so many times on NSC, it all seems like groundhog day, as they say history repeats it's self.

So many options, initially this time round I thought I might for the first time like to visit the future and see how my daughter grows up and future possible grandchildren's lives pan out.
But thinking about for a split second, NO
just in case something terrible happens to her or other family members, that would break my heart.

Well that cheered me up thinking about our possible future on this fecked up planet.
