I’d like to go to Studio 54 to see if it was all that.

We probably can only time travel relatively to the future, the past is almost certainly out.

But assuming it is possible, we would then have a language problem. What is the time/space radius of places/cultures in the past where any of us could fit in without looking rather odd? We could do 20th century Britain, but anything pre-Victorian would be quite push. You'd certainly want quite a few Greek or Latin lessons before going back to classical times or I suspect you would not last long.

Personally I would like to see environments of the long past - some of the millions of dinosaur years or even to see what a Carboniferous forrest was like. But I'd be more tempted to see what the future is like in 100, 500, 1000 or 10,000 years. Provided I could get back.

As a massive history nerd it’d be the past for me. I’d love to see the ancient Egypt and Greece as well as Saxon Britain circa the Viking raids. Then a quick whistle stop tour of 3000AD to see if we’re all dead yet

D1, nice Loco. When I go back in the past I will predict the quintuple lottery jackpot numbers and come back to fund lots of replicas of which a D1 would be one - nice size, Bluebell would look after it :) Have some train porn on me :)

Perhap we should start an anorak sub forum.

My lottery win is earmarked to restore Blackmoor Vale, the first engine I ever saw.
I'd love to see that in steam, and arrange my ashes to go in the firebox when the time comes.

I'd go back to this morning. I was swizzed out of 20p at the co-op for a baguette and I'm bitter as hell about it.

I'd at least query it this time.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Only if there was a way to get back (or forward?).

Far in the future- Just to see if faster than light travel was possible, if other planets could be colonised and what other intelligent aliens would be like, if there was any.

Past. I'd go back to the 80's, invest in London property, get a job in the City buying up stocks I knew would go up and end up a massive hedge fund manager, see all the bands I wish I'd seen, and bang lots of women who looked like Keeley Hawes in Ashes to Ashes.

You mean the bear pits, brothels, pickpockets, and other ne'er do wells, I assume?

Yeah, I reckon it'd be a right laugh just to visit. Watch Marlowe piss off everyone in a pub in Deptford with his agnostic ramblings and cross the river and do the day double header of a play at The Curtain and then a guided tour of the OG Bedlam hospital (I wrote part of my MA on this practice and whilst horrible by our standards, it would be fascinating to see what it was actually like). Getting to see what The Rose was actually and if indoor playhouses match up with the fantastic work done by the Globe in building the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Obviously no intention to stick around for the Plague so out of there by the end of 1592.

The trouble with going back to 80s raves and 60s pop concerts is that unless you’re under 30 and look it, the people there are going to wonder what you’re up to.

There were no bald fat blokes pushing 50 in acid house parties or at Woodstock.
