the pubs will be happy
What this means is that the club could have panicked and bought the wrong striker - and they chose not to. I give them credit for that, not criticism.
- Mooy, signs permanently
- Alexis finally gets his work permit and joins us
- Wonderkid Lamptey, one of the most exciting young attacking wing backs going
- Didn’t lose anyone (ie kept Dunk)
But still.. no striker.
This has been a problem for us for a while, so disappointed we weren’t prepared to get a CF in, especially with relegation in the balance.
Decent window, I think. Mooy, Alexis, Lampty and keeping Dunk all good boys of business. Yes I’d have liked a striker, but so would every other club.
These people who bang on about a ‘proven Premier League striker’- can anybody name one that we would have a realistic chance of getting? None of our rivals are going to sell us a striker (and if they did then that would surely ring alarm bells?) so that leaves old mercenaries looking for a final payday, or someone up and coming.
No ‘proven Premier League striker’ is going to come to us, especially in January. Our only chance is getting one from abroad or the Championship and hoping they work out, and if there weren’t any available that would actually improve us, then what are we supposed to do? Magic one?
In my opinion, keeping Dunk during the transfer window may prove to be the best bit of 'business' we have done.
Mooy is a good signing but was already at the club until the end of the season
Wonderkid Lamptey ? Based on what ? Do tell me as he has played only one Premier league match. Basically another untried kid with potential. Heard that before ?
Alexis is already our player and another who hasn't kicked a ball at Premier level. Until we see him it's a gamble.
Give me a striker than this lot anyday. As i said Mooy is already here. Dress it up how you like but we have done poorly when we needed quality at this moment in time. We opted for gambles.
Thank god for Brexit because it would have been a bloody miserable end to Jan.

I sometimes wonder if the super-positive NSC brigade are a wind up.
We obviously needed a new striker not least because potter himself has shown he doesn’t fancy Murray.
We have a big recruitment team whose sole purpose is to find new players. So there are no excuses.
It’s not to say we are doomed without a new forward, but sweet Jesus, why pretend?
Anyway, it’s done.
Let’s hope Connolly comes of age, and muzza roles back the years - they might well.
It’s not pretending, it’s being realistic. Everybody wants a 20 goal striker, very few have them. Give me one name you would have realistically tried to sign who would likely come to us, and who would improve what we already have.
Well watford, bournemouth, villa, Norwich have done **** all. Only West Ham have done well but they love slamming cash around.
