Sheffield United had what I would describe as a "good window".

What this means is that the club could have panicked and bought the wrong striker - and they chose not to. I give them credit for that, not criticism.

That's like dying and finding out your not in hell and saying "Well, at least I'm not in hell."

The two youngsters look really interesting prospects and add something very different to the squad which is exactly what we need to mix things up a bit. Securing Mooy as well is a real result and all 3 without much outlay so good business in that sense.

The striker market is tough and hugely inflated and has always been an area we have struggled in. Let’s hope we can get over the line this season and put that right in the summer as a priority

This has been a problem for us for a while, so disappointed we weren’t prepared to get a CF in, especially with relegation in the balance.

In my opinion, keeping Dunk during the transfer window may prove to be the best bit of 'business' we have done.

These people who bang on about a ‘proven Premier League striker’- can anybody name one that we would have a realistic chance of getting? None of our rivals are going to sell us a striker (and if they did then that would surely ring alarm bells?) so that leaves old mercenaries looking for a final payday, or someone up and coming.

No ‘proven Premier League striker’ is going to come to us, especially in January. Our only chance is getting one from abroad or the Championship and hoping they work out, and if there weren’t any available that would actually improve us, then what are we supposed to do? Magic one?

Well watford, bournemouth, villa, Norwich have done **** all. Only West Ham have done well but they love slamming cash around.

No forward is going to join us in our position who would improve us. None. A defensive midfielder was far more important than a striker anyway and berge slipped away as we haven’t guaranteed our place like sheff u.

Yes this. Once again some astonishingly needy posts on here. We NEVER do much business in January and if the right striker wasn't available then we've done the right thing by keeping Muzza. Not one of the grizzlers would be able to tell us what striker they would have signed, what price and wages they'd have agreed on and when they'd have closed the deal.

Or maybe we could all do it. Yes, in fact, I would have miraculously signed Giroud for £5 million, paid him 10 grand a week and made him Duke of Sussex the second that title actually became available. How hard can it be?

I’m not sure we can class keeping our players as good business, if no one has bid for them!

The strikers available in the market and James we were linked with where any of them any better than we already have?

Like many I am concerned should we get any injuries or suspensions however most strikers in the January window are either average at best of overpriced.

We are creating chances just need to work hard with are current batch and improve our conversion rate.

Mooy is a good signing but was already at the club until the end of the season
Wonderkid Lamptey ? Based on what ? Do tell me as he has played only one Premier league match. Basically another untried kid with potential. Heard that before ?
Alexis is already our player and another who hasn't kicked a ball at Premier level. Until we see him it's a gamble.

Give me a striker than this lot anyday. As i said Mooy is already here. Dress it up how you like but we have done poorly when we needed quality at this moment in time. We opted for gambles.
Thank god for Brexit because it would have been a bloody miserable end to Jan.

Yes. Afraid I have to agree.

There’s nothing great about signing a player you already own, looked like a panic situation to me.....

Needed a forward.

But, still positive, hope Potter adopts a bit of flexibility with some team selection and think we’ll be okay.

Anyway, it’s done.
Let’s hope Connolly comes of age, and muzza rolls back the years - they might well.

It’s not pretending, it’s being realistic. Everybody wants a 20 goal striker, very few have them. Give me one name you would have realistically tried to sign who would likely come to us, and who would improve what we already have.

Getting a work permit for a player we had already bought and bringing him in six months before we expected is great imo. People were saying we need an attacking midfield player, we now have one. Whose to say if we’d spent 10 milllion plus on a player, surplus to requirements at another club, that he be better than our Argentine International. This is exciting to me.

Signing Mooy can only be construed as good long term.

If Lamptey can adjust as well as to being thrown into the PL as Wan Bissaka did at Palace we’ll be laughing. The fact that a top six club like Chelsea wanted to keep him bodes well imo

The striker failure is disappointing but goals are quite well spread so far so if we can get more from the midfield and centre backs it might not be the disaster some of the “let’s chuck the towel in, we’re already down” posters INSIST it will be.

Not a bad window imo, on paper.

This season has been FUN and most games very enjoyable, even if the results have disappointed quite often. We have been competitive and so much better to watch than last season.

There is no guarantee a team like Albion will stay up but I think we are giving it a good go so far

It’s not my job to scour international leagues and identify talent. It is the recruitment team’s job. Their sole purpose, in fact.
And then for the club to get deals over the line.
I do recognise it is not always a straight-forward process but it is a crucial part of running a successful football club.
Other clubs have recruited.
I love Bloom but when I heard the ‘We don’t do business in January’ line I winced.
Surely you do business, when it’s needed? And we need a striker.
Anyway, what’s done is done. I hope the club is right and I will be cheering my heart out this afternoon.
