I would Argue that Arsenal never ran amok in or out of the Goldstome. In comparison to the ugly mobs referred to in the same post they did not even merit a mention. Our friends from Croydon caused more problem than Arsenal.

Oh yes they did....I seem to recall the first game in the first division wasnt too bad, but the next year was carnage.

We used to stand just by the half way line in the east terrace and when it all kicked off in the North Stand about 20 minutes before KO, about 70 Arsenal hoolies ran past us and climbed over the fences of the NE corner to get to the North stand.

There was also dreadful trouble in Town the Friday night. We were having a good time in The Top Rank Suite( Unbelievable I know) when a load of them charged into the entrance and again a huge punchup ensued.

It seemed as though it was always the London clubs that were the worst although when we played Wolverhampton wanderers in the cup, it all kicked off at Hove Station ( and Liverpool also)

the ruck at the last Palace away game was quite fruity. One of the pubs was called the Cambridge where Palace were with Brighton in the opposite pub. Guys just throwing anything they could get their hands on between the two pubs!

Canvey Island in the cup was a pretty good one with the pikeys lobbing bricks at anything that moved!

Yes I remember that one....do you remember the BT engineer by the bus stop who was fixing something and the canvey lot grabbed his tool kit and were chucking screwdrivers and stuff at us whilst we were waiting for the bus back to the park and ride

there would be no point asking the cardinal of any memories he may have,
My best one has to be at the centenary dinner at the Brighton Centre, you lot had left him, so i was left holding up the great one, then a certain peter ward came over, at that point the cardinal decided to collapse and nearly flattened the very scared wardy, who very quickly left. then trying to get cardianal into back of that car outside the centre, must of had hundreds of people watching us.

Chelsea at Home - Joey Jones and Chris Hutchens bouncing up and down in front of the lego stand winding up the hoards of low life.

Tottenham at home 3-1 dreadful trouble at that game.

Arsenal when their massed ranks took the North Stand

West Ham - terrible trouble almost every time they visited at teh Goldstone

Millwall - Evening game late 70's -surgical masks, F Troop etc etc

Spot the link?

Pretty much spot on - although I don't rememberthe Arsenal trouble either.

Spurs was the worst IMO - however Millwall (are you sure it was a night game?) was pretty bad. It was just after the Panorama programme I think, they all wore masks - and I am I dreaming or was there a police horse in the North Stand that day!?

I remember a Tottenham lad pulling a knife on a Brighton fan in the West terrace at the Goldstone in 1981 or 1982. I seem to recall being quite excited by the whole thing being a mere nine or ten years old at the time. Not sure whether that was the 3-1 game in question. Would absolutely shit myself now if that happened.

Trying to get him into that car was hard work and he smacked his head on metal railings.

He seemingly had a nice night in Lewes the other week!!!

I think his Polish exploits top the list for me.

Although stumbling down a coach in Brussels after a few and asking the driver to drop him at Preston Circus was fairly special.

I think so as I seem to recall the Millwall were all put underneath the West Stand ( we won 3-2 with Steve Piper scoring twice)

Unless I am going senile....

But I remember it was a night game as we came out into the road behind the East Terrace and Millwall hoolies were hitting everyone and anyone....my mate still has one of their "calling cards"

You were in the Crescent opposite, attacking the Cambridge was not a good idea that night, your lot ran back, locked the door and hid under tables by all accounts!

By your account maybe! Another funny moment that night was 2 palace fans mouthing off to us in the queue for the turnstiles, then trying to attack a couple of scarfers over a 3 foot high fence and falling smack on there arses. Don't think they saw the game after that! MUGS

Sorry DTG I was at that game. About 10 Arsenal started in the North Stand. About 5 yards away from me.

The main perpator got a good slapping and they were sheepishly escorted out. Arsenal never did us. Thanks you.
