Since detailed World Cup records began in 1966, there are only two instances of a team losing a game despite attempting 700+ passes:

  • Spain vs Japan tonight
  • Germany vs Japan last week

Are you Brighton in disguise?

There's some Celtic moles trying to make their Maeda MOTM over the real MOTM, Brighton and Hove Albion's mighty Mitoma! Rigging it? - not 'arf they ain't!

MOTM Kaoru Mitoma 8.83

"Messi was awarded the man of the match award but immediately gave it to Mac Allister, who is now preparing for Saturday’s round of 16 tie against Australia."

What a wonderful gesture by Messi!

...............and Mitoma is MOTM on the BBC poll, and the world's a wonderful place tonight (and even Big Bob Sanchez is still not out of the World Cup!)

It blows my mind the sheer number of people who don’t understand this rule at all.
I think most people understand the rule, the issue here is there not being enough imagery to see it from all angles - depth of field (scuse the pun) and camera lenses can produce some deceptive impressions. VAR should release the imagery that they based their decision on regardless in the interests of fairplay. I called it out on watching the live play before any playback but before the playback image showed the widest part of the ball was indeed hanging over the line.

If you mean, His Royal Sourness, he courts controversy for the sake of it - you know that he’s a prize plonker and doesn’t know anything and he’s certainly not representative of the football intelligentsia! . 🤷‍♂️

Martinez has left the Belgium job.

Belgium FA apparently were keen to renew his contract, which ran out at the end of this tournament, but he's chosen to step down and go back to club management.
