[Albion] Will the awful showing at Everton force action in the transfer window?

11th in the table of defence last season.

4 matches, 8 goals this season.

Today was a system failure. Nothing else.

Not sure what your point is....if we concede two a game we will probably get relegated.

Today provided a Clear blueprint for future Opponents.
They know our keeper doesn’t come off his line and we’ve got a few weak headers of the ball in defence.
They can also see our midfield can be bullied and with close attention, Lamptey can be kept quiet.

We’ll get battered with crosses and free kicks from now on in.
We have the personnel, they need specialist coaching though.

Whilst I think it’s mainly work on our defending that needs to happen as well as acknowledging we’re not a team for torrential rain and heavy pitches, will today’s result force the club to bring in reinforcements?

No, no it won't.

The club will continue looking for the right players that fit Potter's style, the budget and that they believe they can improve individually and as a team. If they get one that fits that criteria, we'll sign them, if they don't we won't. Today will change nothing

Need a proven striker not someone from Swiss 2nd division!

The best striker in the world can't score without the ball. We don't deliver the ball quickly enough in the final third. People say March played well but he dithers when he could cross whereas Lamptey slung one in early and we scored. We were poor in both boxes today. But it was against a team that had won all three previous matches and had spent loads of money.

Lamptey will be kept quiet on occasions, as indeed will other players like him.

Other occasions he won't.

Everton are a very well drilled and complicated opposition with a much stronger squad.

It's no big deal. If we have that sort of game a few times against a bottom half side I'll worry then.

Big couple of games coming up. Playing well and losing won’t be good enough . I was really encouraged by first few displays so keeping them crossed.

No, and we actually need to improve the quality of player and to do that we need to spend big and compete with the likes of Sheffield ****ing United, Leeds, Villa, Everton, Wolves, West Ham et al, which we are not going to do so we need to tighten our seatbelts because its going to be a rough ride!!!

Yes, they watched a different game. They always do. If they were watching the same game as a lot of people in here, ten players would be sacked after every game and ten players would be bought and after every won game they would have to erect eleven statues outside the Amex. TB, DA, GP would all be saying in the press "we're useless, doomed" after every loss and "we're heading for Europe" after every win.

But they dont. You know why? Because they watch a different game. They wont buy or sell players based on a single result or performance.
The exact same problems from last year are happening this season, they haven’t been addressed in a poor window that’s not game by game reactionary. To be honest I haven’t a clue what the recruitment team have been doing not a lot by all accounts.

Same problems as last year? You mean the lack of goals?

Nope, neither Tony, Dan or Graham are as desperate or simple minded as a lot of people in here.

This.

Can'y help feeling the OP is being a little insouciant

So you think this has been a good window?

7 first team players out
2 players in for less than 1 million
Numerous players for the u23s

Obvious weakness not addressed
Surely barring Chelsea last year who had a transfer embargo the lowest spend in PL for years...

I think it’s been all about cutting costs and unfortunately the PL doesn’t stand still. We are in for a serious rough ride unless things change quickly.

What today does show is that playing 5 at the back has never, and will never work for us. Awful last season, awful this season.

What didn’t work today was the zonal marking in a game littered by individual errors which gifted Everton 3 goals. Nothing to do with playing 3 at the back.

Yup, good transfer window. Squad was too fat and looks good in numbers now. Would have liked to see another striker but it will be fine anyway (and the window is still open, you never know...).

Hopefully next years transfer window will be similar. Two players promoted, two bought, three or four players out.

Your trouble is you don’t really support the club and couldn’t give a toss either way, we all know a couple of injuries to certain players will cripple us the bench was pathetic today, GP couldn’t change the attack if he wanted to
