There is no money unfortunately. The best we can hope for is a loan signing and even that’s unlikely as we’d have to cover all the wages of any decent player.

That's not true is it. There was pushing 20-25 million for Nunez. Thats wasn't coming out of thin air.

I guess it's more that we must stick ridgedly to the moneyball model to get players, than zero money available.

I am all for sensible management, but I do think moneyball is a straight jacket at times.

If we can't find the right food, in the right flavour, with the right expiry date at a bargain price. We just won't eat anything at all.

Whereas this approach is fair enough and great if it can be used to secure promising gems, if you weren't able to get one in using the method (Nunez) the need should still be addressed.

You don’t have the emotional connection to the club that the rest of us do. It’s easy for you to type thoughtless comments because when all is said and done you’ll log out of NSC one day and never come back, you’ll stop watching our games and will stop checking our scores, the rest of us have an emotional bond with the club which is non negotiable, it’s worth remembering that the next time you feel the need to patronise people who get pissed off about conceding 4 sloppy goals in a game.

Potters way of playing probably works the only trouble is you need top class players to make it successful, Everton pressed really well and it all fell apart as no disrespect to our players they aren’t good enough as a group to know when to play and when not to play hence Trossard’s shocking pass that cost us the game. I’m struggling with the clubs strategy why get that type of manager in and give him no tools to work with

Nothing against Bissouma, he doesn’t need to be in this discussion.

But a packed 6 yard box with the height and nous of 2 or 3 CB’s, Murray and Stephens was pretty good at the collective art defending aerials. Muzza had been brilliant at that since Withdean.

Obviously time moves on, but we’ve lost that solidity for all and sundry to see.

What we need is Duffy back. He was bought to defend corners and free kicks. Our defending is back to where it was 5 years ago with Dunk and Goldson .

Yeah, i remember that corner against Burnley at home in the dying minutes, after they had been disallowed one that had crossed the line. Knew they would score from it, same as Everton's 2nd goal today. have no confidence in our defending set-pieces, and that is with 3 CB's

You may argue we've been unlucky in attack against Man U, but defensively we've not been unlucky, we've been poor and have gifted goals consistently.

Neither Chelsea, Man U or Everton have outclassed or beaten us with outstanding play, they've all had goals gift wrapped by poor defending and poor organisation.

Why were we also so poor at defending set pieces under Hughton in the premier league with those players playing every week then? It’s been a problem since we came up. Those lamenting the loss of Stephens, Murray and Duffy seem to have forgotten our equally appaling record at defending set pieces with them in the side.

I’m a Ryan fan but maybe it is an issue related to him as he is the one constant throughout that time?
