Wilkins and Forster not too impressed with home support....(argus)

Stop being so precious and self-centred.

Okay, you might not like Gully and Gully's girls but not everything is going to be geared to you so get over it. Obviously that does attract some audiences. just like with Harty's shows his little bits about Eastenders or whatever are irritating to me because I don't watch it and see no value to me personally, but some people like that, my 98 year old great great aunt for isntance.

I completely agree with Forster and Wilkins. The support is poor. But we know that and have done for years. Withdean is an excuse, we know that, but that is what we have to put up with at the moment and if you're not a good enough supporter to go and support the albion that's your problem. We do have an elderly fan base who must be catered for but equally younger, perhaps more vibrant supporters, do need anoppurtunity to express this. Perhaps, ideally, the supporters wouldn't be needed as much. Man United, for instance, don't exactly need that '12th man' but we're in a position where we are more average and there are many teams with similar levels of quality so we are needed. We do also benefit from this, brighton is a community club which is fantastic.

Prices are too high but that has been the situation for years. We have no problem attracting the crowds when we get a big team or start winning. We probably have a variable fan base of at least 4000, regularly, let alone the 30 k we took to Cardiff. So, success is a huge part of it. But like I said quality wise we're not above many clubs around us so we need to get that kick started with the positive multiplier effect. The players put 5 good minutes in, supporters rev it up for 5 minutes, hopefully the players respond and it continues. Hopefully we win, get on a good run etc. You know how it goes.

Another problem IS refs. I would love to know the amount of times the the general feeling among brighton supporters is ' ref was pretty dire but to be honest we didn't play fantastically' that is so frequent. When games are that close refs do make decision, okay he didn't rule out 3 goals but you never know.

Then there is this whole sky issue etc which I know what they mean but it isn't a main reason. We have attracted big crowds even with the infamous sky opposing us. Withdean depression is existent and it's a real shame. I personally think success is more important then how we play in terms of fan bases because fans are fickle and only want goals and attacks. Hopefully we can reach a compromise of attacking good football and results but that is bloody hard for a club in our position. So supporters have to spur them on. If you're not willing to do that, that's your problem but I bet you take as much joy out of having a good moan about everything Brighton as I do travelling 3 hours to an away game, standing and chanting throughout and see my team play with passion and clap us genuinely at the end, perhaps getting a result.

I would take issue with the comments about northern clubs, some of their supporters can be the most fickle and objectionable when things aren't going their way, look at the Man Utd fans who formed their own club because they objected to the take-over by the Glaziers....how many Chelsea, Fulham or QPR fans (southerners) did you hear moaning when their clubs were taken over by foreign businessmen, not very many!

As to the effect of the music, Gully and his girls, I personally have no problem listening to punk/ska classics as it is my era and many who go to the game with kids have commented on here how much they like the pre-match entertainment...horses for courses, you can't please everyone but have to strike a happy medium.

I think that's a bit of a contradiction. HOw much easier would it have been for those United fans to continue supporting the wealthy united. But no, they had morals. FUlham/Chelsea/QPR didn't care because all they want is the money and don't care who takes them over! That is hideously bias as well, City fans were not complaining about Thaksin when he took over despite the accusations. They're fickle because they don't care who runs the club as long as they have money!

There is nothing precious or self-centred about a choice as to what time you want to arrive at Withdean.

Poor poor excuse for playing crap football!. Its us who pay and its us who suffer, yes it would be great if there was an atmosphere but who wants to make noise when the team played as bad as they were considering the last 5/6 matches aswell?. Up north is not a good example of sticking by your club espeicially when Newcastle sack a manager every 3rd week with the help of thier so called "loyal" fans, Whats Middleboroughs average attendance in the prem?, When leeds were in the Championship they were only getting 20,000 in!. When we last had a permanent ground what was the last attendance we had in the bottom Div? Small Family club? Forster, thats not the best way to encourage noise and bigger crowds is it?
Has your Palace connection got anything to do with these comments?

Truth hurts Mr Paranoia!

I'm addressing the comment and inference about the music/cheerleading etc. If you arrive late because of that, that's your problem but personally I think there is always a betetr atmosphere when evyerone is stood on the athletics track watching the training etc.

i STRONGLY believe we should look at ground sharing with Crawley - yeah people might think its daft blah blah blah - but Crawley holds 4,500-5,000 - its got 4 stands, 3 of which are terraces ;) , and on the odd accassion i've been there can be a great little ground with good atmosphere.

It is daft, not least because Broadfield doesn't meet Football League requirements.

I was at Withdean on Tuesday and the atmosphere was dire: negative, moaning, looking for mistakes. We seem to be in a downward spiral where we turn up to criticise rather than support. It must be difficult if you are a player to feel the crowd are on your back from the start looking for any mistake. It leads to the get rid of the ball quick mentality that we all criticise. We're doing nothing for the confidence of the team and results are often built on confidence.

I don't really think that morals come into it, how many on NSC were creaming it recently when it was mooted that David Gold might be getting involved in the Albion when he completes the sale of his interest in Birmingham. Can you see Albion fans protesting on the streets that someone who has had involvement in sex shops is joining our board, maybe one or two, but I can't really see it leading to a group of fans forming an FC Albion in protest...most of us would welcome investment in the club, pretty much regardless of its origin.

FFS shut the Feck up Forster you muppet.

A. To describe BHAFC as a small family club is not going to endear you to the fans and goes completely against what we have told the anti Falmer brigade for 10 years in fact we are a large club in waiting
B. To say Fans up North get behind their team more could not alienate you from fans in the South more, wee done
C. If you could possibly score a goal every now and again that might fire up the fans
D. Any Striker who is " pleased " with their play after 12 games without a goal should Shut the feck up and keep quiet

That is all.

Of course he is not impressed with your support, he is a Palace fan!

Thanks for pointing that out, and how embarrassing is that - to be told by palace that we have shit support.

Anyone not getting behind the team and getting on their backs this Saturday is purely and simply a traitor - Oldham were TWATS to our boys at theirs, and we must make them feel MOST unwelcome at Withdean!

We just got to accept on the whole we have a mediocre team who show individual flashes of brilliance.

As said earlier when the team are firing, Withdean gets noisy.

It's up to the team to entertain, then we will cheer. After all they are getting paid thousands to do their job.

Withdean is not exclusive in having unhappy customers. :)

O really?! didn't know that. for all the money we've spent on Withdean, we could have built them a little stand/terrace down their sideline nearest the main road - the would easily have held 6k then.

That side is terraced already, although it's uncovered and only a couple of steps deep. I don't know if it can be extended any more or not though. I quite like Broadfield as a ground but it isn't the right place for us to play.

Tickets are cheaper up north. -

Adults
Oldham from £17
Hartlepool from £18
Leeds from £15

The above are for the same level of football and you get to sit in a football stadium rather than at an amateur athletic track.
