Stop being so precious and self-centred.
Okay, you might not like Gully and Gully's girls but not everything is going to be geared to you so get over it. Obviously that does attract some audiences. just like with Harty's shows his little bits about Eastenders or whatever are irritating to me because I don't watch it and see no value to me personally, but some people like that, my 98 year old great great aunt for isntance.
I completely agree with Forster and Wilkins. The support is poor. But we know that and have done for years. Withdean is an excuse, we know that, but that is what we have to put up with at the moment and if you're not a good enough supporter to go and support the albion that's your problem. We do have an elderly fan base who must be catered for but equally younger, perhaps more vibrant supporters, do need anoppurtunity to express this. Perhaps, ideally, the supporters wouldn't be needed as much. Man United, for instance, don't exactly need that '12th man' but we're in a position where we are more average and there are many teams with similar levels of quality so we are needed. We do also benefit from this, brighton is a community club which is fantastic.
Prices are too high but that has been the situation for years. We have no problem attracting the crowds when we get a big team or start winning. We probably have a variable fan base of at least 4000, regularly, let alone the 30 k we took to Cardiff. So, success is a huge part of it. But like I said quality wise we're not above many clubs around us so we need to get that kick started with the positive multiplier effect. The players put 5 good minutes in, supporters rev it up for 5 minutes, hopefully the players respond and it continues. Hopefully we win, get on a good run etc. You know how it goes.
Another problem IS refs. I would love to know the amount of times the the general feeling among brighton supporters is ' ref was pretty dire but to be honest we didn't play fantastically' that is so frequent. When games are that close refs do make decision, okay he didn't rule out 3 goals but you never know.
Then there is this whole sky issue etc which I know what they mean but it isn't a main reason. We have attracted big crowds even with the infamous sky opposing us. Withdean depression is existent and it's a real shame. I personally think success is more important then how we play in terms of fan bases because fans are fickle and only want goals and attacks. Hopefully we can reach a compromise of attacking good football and results but that is bloody hard for a club in our position. So supporters have to spur them on. If you're not willing to do that, that's your problem but I bet you take as much joy out of having a good moan about everything Brighton as I do travelling 3 hours to an away game, standing and chanting throughout and see my team play with passion and clap us genuinely at the end, perhaps getting a result.
