Forgetting his phenomenal achievement in league one - In the Championship he took a league one team , finished 10th in the first season - 4th in his second season with a mid-table budget - narrowly missing out on Premier League football!

Perhaps you just have ridiculously high expectations??

I am confident that we would have gone up automatically this coming season if the board worked harder to keep him - Oh well.

I don't feel I have ridiculously high expectations. I think he's done pretty well in most areas. All I am questioning is that he is perfect which you seem to be portraying. For me there are quite a few departments he is lacking in.

massively overachieved, are you sure?

great job in league one no doubt.

he then took the best supported club in the division into the playoffs, where he was out done by holloway. Taking that team into the playoffs with:

polish international goalkeeper,
ex la liga stars.
ex england internation defenders
2.5 m cms
1m buckley
3m ulloa

plus lua lua, crofts hammond, bridcutt, greer etc.

honestly with that squad at his disposal do you really think playoffs and meak surrender in the semi was a massive over achievement. He did well but not as well as you seem to think.
Well as a certain person is ignoring you're post. No he didn't over achieve when you consider that squad!

No, after he's gone, you'll come to appreciate what a fantastic manager we have had since 2009 - I find it pretty shocking that you can't right now, given how where we were just four years ago when he took over and where we are now.
Not picking on you mate, but this is a line that really nags at me.

Do you base your judgement on Poyet against the likes of Slade, Adams, Wilkins, McGhee? On what basis do you rate him?

Do you see any weakness' in Gus Poyet as a manager?

You see why I ask, is I am delighted that Poyet appears to be history. I wanted him out for over a year. But as much I will tell anyone within earshot why I think that, I do also acknowledge he done a lot of good things, but IMO his limits in football management far outweighs the good.

Wigan have no income. Utd and Aresenal made more in a single prem game than they did all season. Don't really understand why Gus would want to go a from a packed Amex to an empty DW unless him and Tony really can't sort things out. What ever happens I just hope it happens soon.

Wigan have no income?! Do you understand the massive impact of parachute payments. They could play in an empty stadium and still have greater income than us.

What a load of crap.Of course they have a leg to stand on. I'm with the guy that has spent 90 millon on our new ground ,16 millon on a training ground, millons on players. Gus is a dis loyal man and the club can move on without him. It bloom goes the club is ****ed so how about showing some loyalty to the man that saved our club rather than some bloke that does not give a fig about our club and just sees us as a steping stone.
No manager is loyal to a club, nor players either. The only loyalty to any club is from the fans. Those who expect loyalty from a manager live in fantasy land. It's a job for them, no more than that, even those who aren't ambitious.

Where did you get 3 million for Ulloa from? He was 2 million € not £. Exaggerating makes your post look ridiculous. We may have a Polish international keeper but in reality, he's no. 3 choice.

I appreciate we played some lovely football that season, and gave the league one cloggers the run around, but when you look at the personnel he had at his disposal that season he wasn't as up against as it some like to think. I know it's a bit of a flimsy case to make but our team that season consisted of 3 players who are now in the premier league, 2 that have gone on to receive international call ups and several players that have more than proved themselves to be competent championship players. It's not like he took Yeovil up.

he had a defence that most in this division would give their right arm for they weren't cheap

But don't you get it, he was working on a Ryman League budget. He only had 2 former England defenders, an Egyptian international, a Spaniard with Champions League experience and his club captain who has since been called up by Scotland.

Was Laudrup really proven when he came to this country? I really think he's worth a punt, rather him than Ferguson or Sousa.

Yes - Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow, Mallorca. But I'd also rather have DB than Ferguson or Sousa.

The Egyptian International.......who before he was coached by Gus and Tanno was referred to as 'El Bad', a walking liability who most thought was non-league standard - let alone League 1, championship or international.

Yep, the exact man. It's funny how he developed so quickly when he got to play with quality players. I'm not saying Gus/Tanno didn't help him but that ability must have been lurking in there somewhere.
