I appreciate we played some lovely football that season, and gave the league one cloggers the run around, but when you look at the personnel he had at his disposal that season he wasn't as up against as it some like to think. I know it's a bit of a flimsy case to make but our team that season consisted of 3 players who are now in the premier league, 2 that have gone on to receive international call ups and several players that have more than proved themselves to be competent championship players. It's not like he took Yeovil up.

I'm being thick tonight... Murray, Bennett and?

But don't you get it, he was working on a Ryman League budget. He only had 2 former England defenders, an Egyptian international, a Spaniard with Champions League experience and his club captain who has since been called up by Scotland.

Brilliant. Of course, this completely ignores the fact that, except El Abd who Poyet and his coaching staff improved beyond recognition as has been said elsewhere, Poyet signed all of these players. He built the best defence in the league. I seriously doubt we would have signed Bruno, Upson, Kuszczak or Bridge if we had been managed by Holloway, for example. He has the ability to attract quality players but I suppose we have to all turn on him now and go with the noisy minority who think fourth wasn't good enough last year.

Most people I talk to, not on North Stand Chat, don't understand what Gus has done wrong, and want him to stay.

There are some ridiculous comments on this thread, choosing to rewrite history.

Laughable.

Don't worry, the reality of what he brought to our club will hit them square in the face once he's gone.

I know. As I said, on here it is always the vocal minority who shout down everyone else. I am not sure what to make of the current situation and none of us truly know what happened but it annoys me when people start rewriting history and saying Gus didn't achieve anything in his time as manager. The same happens when players leave and some people start saying they weren't any good anyway.

Club record for number of weeks at the top of the league, club record of season with 95 points just to name two achievements.

I also think some of the best football I have ever seen from Albion. I know some people maintain we were dull to watch (and at times it was frustrating) but when we were on form over the last 3 seasons, the football has been fantastic. We improved every year under Gus and I think the improvement has led some to forget where we were when he joined. As has been said elsewhere, it may be a while before people realise it but he has done a great job and will be missed assuming he leaves.

There will always be mean spirited people who will justify their dislike of him, and their opinions.

What are you rambling on about? I and many like me, had no dislike of Gus at all until he decided to stick the boot into the club I support. Do you wear an Albion shirt or an 'I luv Gus' T-shirt?

At the moment these two things are mutually exclusive.

He hardly stuck the boot in, did he? He was asked questions in the media and to be fair answered them honestly. We all know that managers are looking to improve their career, doesn't mean he won't give his all for us while he is here. There were people slagging him off throughout his time here, especially once we got promoted, and for no good reason.

We all support Brighton but some of us choose to support the manager and players at the club too while others think it is more supportive to shout abuse at managers/players.
