Yeah, there a few other reasons to criticise FH tonight but I think anyone having a go at him about this is just using it to further a vendetta. I was as pissed off as anyone when Minteh didn’t start and came on so late but I understand it now.

One, he would have to discipline Minteh for this or look incredibly weak and two, depending on exactly when he arrived, Minteh would probably not have been physically or mentally prepared for the match. There is a reason why they ask players to arrive at a certain time.

Agree with most of this, and Gruda needed the ball quickly and earlier, however when he did receive it with space, he did little with it and went backwards.

He spent most of the first half covering Veltman who had a stinker. When he did get the ball facing their goal it was either in our half or just over the half way line. What the hell is he supposed to do with that?!

The only time he got space, he beat 3 players and won a free kick. The problem though, as noted above, is that this run started on the half way line. He’s in a no win situation. We need to get the ball out to our wingers quicker and higher up the pitch. This has been a problem all season on both sides of the pitch, and blaming Gruda rather than the manager is a cheap way out.

That's not fair on Gruda, he was constantly finding space and asking for the ball but never got it . . . Veltman just wouldn't pass to him.

Veltman and Dunk were so negative today, they have to carry some of the can, constantly turning back . . . .

On the one occaision Gruda did get a pass, he steamed past three players and got sythed down . . . . Free kick was taken 10 yards behind and passsed backwards. Defeatest negative tripe . . . .no movement, way too slow and utterly predictble.

As a result we couldn’t access the changing room as he was getting a dressing down from the management team after the rest of the players headed for the pre match meal.

Subsequently Gruda was bought into the starting XI at the last minute. (One of the management team confirmed this to us)

FH was not a happy bunny as he made his way across the pitch when leaving the changing room.

Minteh looked distraught when making his way over to the west stand a good 10 mins after the rest of the squad.

Its a weird thread this. Welbeck barely touched the ball, Pedro was completely marked out of doing anything positive in their half, and Mitoma was very ineffective. So why do we think Minteh and Rutter would have fared any better? Gruda would probably have looked awesome if he'd played against that United side last week. Don't blame him for today, its all on Everton's defence

They might not have but they finished the previous game very strongly so why not see, certainly Minteh. The manager got it wrong and hasn't learnt a thing about dealing with a defensive team. The thing is to hit them hard early before they get into the swing of defending. Meanwhile our one player who could do something different is at Ipswich...

None of know the details , was he 5 mins late and it was a punishment or 30 mins late and not ready, If the former then is he that insecure that he has to 'make a point' , if he were in control he doesn't have to make an example, he could fine him later.

Thought he ended up first half covering behind Veltman as much as he did in front of him. At times you’d have been forgiven for thinking Gruda was the fullback.

Gruda was withdrawn, but at the same time Lamptey was switched to right back after HT. Think it was less about Gruda’s performance and more about getting Georginio on.
