I'm trying to work out what is the difference between these two statements:-

"The police and the government don't seem to care about the community I live in. I'm going looting"; and ...

"The police and the government don't seem to care about the community I live in. I want to fight the looters".

Yeah, you're right... just let peoples communities, homes and businesses burn.

Pork pie land.
I mean. there are more people against this then for. Why aren't people fighting back? Regaining control.

Because we pay our taxes for the police to do that for us! It is their job you know? Unfortunately, years of left-wing f***ing do-gooders running the Country have made it impossible for them to operate now, without being in trouble as individuals.

And that really does sum-up the problem with the politicos in our Country now.

Surely LB is not saying that these people should be abandoned but, that the fact that citizens are having to defend their own property is part of the same problem that has led to other people attacking that property. Basically that neither group has faith in the establishment to look out for their interests.

Fine words... we don't have and never have had a police for who could ENFORCE law and order in circumstances like these... it has always been enforced with the consent and cooperation of the vast majority of the general public. When they are over-run like this, clearly something more needs to be done to share responsibility and act in the public interest.

Edit: I see they have called up all Specials... and I wouldn't be surprised if former Withdean stewards were next.

In these circumstances you can start to understand the 'Tony Martin' approach to defending your life and property. Try it once and I'll chase you off, if you are stupid enough to come back I will use force. He chose to lie in wait with a shotgun, the intruders made the mistake of coming back. The law decided Martin had used dsiproportionate force.

I suspect a lot of people will be thinking 'I am not going to stand by and watch my family, home or business be violated, looted and burned down. If the Police are going to stand back I will do my utmost to defend myself'.

Really? You can't tell the difference? Have you really no idea? Go on try harder.
Of course there's a difference. The point I'm making is that BOTH sides of the divide seem to be dealing with their own disillusionment by resorting to a "solution" that discounts the value of structured, co-operative community action and, instead, rests mainly on the question of what individual action might be appropriate.

Until ALL elements in society relearn that there are benefits in collective action, collective responsibility and working together, things will only get worse.

Turkish families in Dalston last night.

Interesting.

My step-daughter was working in Dalston last night, and had to get home to Sydenham. Thankfully, she did so OK.

Me and the missus are due to go to a theatre in Dalston on Friday evening, followed by a meal in a Turkish restaurant. We're probably giving it a swerve, but that picture (with your caption) does perversely appear to tell a more positive story.

At what point were they known? What caused the forgetfulness? One of the problems with societies/communities is that the sort of organisation and collective action requires the involvement of everybody. Many people don't want to be involved, and others want to be in charge. This happens at all levels (local government, national government, pub groups, sports teams, campaign teams, etc). It's easier for everyone to be involved if everyone agrees with each other about everything.

To find a true solution first you need to identify the root cause. In this situation I don't know what that is. There are probably many different causes that vary for different individuals involved on both sides of the divide, and probably contradict each other thus making agreement problematic.

Take it your originally from Pakistan at a guess (Razi from Luton), if not then where ?? Listen if you guys don't like it here, Gatwick and Heathrow have regular "return flights" feel free to pop yourself on one !!

Jimbo, whilst I guess you have misread the situation and maybe you worded the above not so well I can see what you mean here. I have to say that a whole lot of people feel the same way but to put some perspective the majority of the Afro Carribeans in this country came here either as slaves or cheap labour. At times like this it's not too hard to overlook this but I can sympathise with what you're trying to say, I'm sure you're not alone with these views.

i dont think that the rioters are that interested in collective action unless it involves collectively burning peoples houses to the ground. and when that is the case, what choice do people have?

Haha. Jimbo, you're a COMPLETE clown - and apparently incredibly racist. I'm a British male, born in Cuckfield with a Scottish Dad and Mum from Merseyside. I work in Luton because I work for one of the major airlines who have their HQ here. I've used the name Razi as a character name in online gaming since 1995.

But, anyway, thanks for the tip. You TOOL.

Oh come on, just cos he only mentioned Gatwick and Heathrow and not Luton you get offended??

ok, hypothetical question.

we all know we would get nicked for fighting rioting youths, but if they were going to attack our beloved stadium, would you go and defend it with all of your might?

After the 13 year fight, one more isnt going to hurt is it?

Well, actually, the VAST majority of Afro Carribean people in this country, were born here.

Absolutely f***ing disgusting. Views like that do not belong here, or anywhere for that matter. I hope your ban gives you a long time to think about what you've said
