If you look at the original post I have to say that I found it offensive. The fact is that Jimbo overreacted and whilst not big or clever I can see why he said what he did. That you felt the need start screaming like a bitch about it rather than trying to act in a more rational way makes you little better than him.

I've just explained that his views aren't welcome here, a view quite clearly held by many others on here who have apparently reported his post and got him banned. I am not judge, jury and executioner on this but I will make myself heard that I am not prepared to put up with people spouting views like that.

Yes and the tone you used was hysterical. Was it really necessary to resort to profanity ? Do you not realise than in a democracy no matter how odious you find a person's views they have a right to air them, the same as you have. The fact that you also lost your temper in exactly the same way Jimbo did makes you no better than him.

In the so called democratic society we live in CS is entitled to his opinion but there again so it Jimbo. Jimbo was clearly angry when he posted that comment and whilst it was obviously misplaced (this became clear thanks to a later post by the post of the person who upset Jimbo in the first place) I wouldn't condemn Jimbo as a racist because of it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it ?

Yes, you're right but I am trying vainly to remain PC. I would be very interested to have a rough approximation of the ethnic breakdown of the rioters though. It would make for some interesting debate rather than wild speculation.

The problem you have is not that you have to remain PC as such bhaexpress but that you cannot come out and say what everyone can see on their tv screens that rioters which are predominantly black are wrecking our capital city. When I say you...... I of cause mean people in general.
You can move the arguement along easily enough to the effect economics, poverty and the like have on people in inner city areas and the social effects on 2nd, 3rd, generation etc kids from West Indian/African families but the failure to see that it is black youth who causing the bulk of the damage is just ridiculous.
The bigger problem at the moment though is the authorities reaction to the riots, easing back so as not to inflame tensions because they the police are reacting exactly the same as many on here who would rather tread carefully because of the race arguements, ending with nothing being done about those appalling acts seen on our televisions.
Strange that in the 80s I understood totally why the Afro-Carribean community hit back so angrily at the police - getting battered for having a spliff ffs - but this time it is different.
Anyway it doesn`t matter at the moment about any of the latter arguements mentioned above other than to protect the people and property of decent folk.

That has NOT been done.

The police have failed London and I dont blame individual officers here either.

As I said above, I think Jimbo expressed himself badly but I can understand his point of view, it's not as though it's not being echoed in houses all over the country. I appreciate that you're trying to show the World how PC you are but Jim is merely expressing an opinion based on his own understanding of what is going on.

As I have already explained I see Jimbo's comment as something unwisely make in the heat of the moment. I found 'Razi's original post patronising to put it mildly. Granted I wouldn't have responded like that but if Jimbo is a racist he's far from alone on here. Frankly I don't think he's a racist just another individual frustrated by the whole situation.

Oh dear oh dear, I have gone to great lengths to point out that whilst I don't condone his comments I can understand why he said them. Frankly young Mr Squid's reaction to him was of a similar vein given it's tone which in my book makes him no better. Whilst you consider that 'Razi' was trying to be humorous Jimbo clearly didn't, he over reacted yes but feelings are running very high at the moment are they not ? I would suggest you track back over what I have said because there seems to be far too many people rushing to judgement, clearly Jimbo is not alone here.

You are quite correct about the way people are treated when they express an unpopular opinion but on the other hand are you sure that these riots are are to be blamed predominately on black youths ? You could be right but you do need to provide some justification for making statements like that.

Absolutely! Totally agree! But they are black. They aren't white. Or Asian. They are predominantly (but not exclusively) black.
