Why does everyone HATE Dennis Wise?

True, and if we ever want to be anything more than that, we need a top manager to make it happen. Just like Brian Clough started the glory years last time around.

As I have said before, if Tony Bloom only wants "ok" (like some of our non-leage fans appear to want), then give Russell Slade a bit longer to make the team "ok" - who knows, they may even make the playoffs in a couple of years?

However, if Tony Bloom actually wants to us to reach the Premiership, then, unfortunately, Russell Slade will never be the guy to achieve it - really nice guy that he is!

Clough helped our profile but Peter Taylor probably did more for us. Alan Mullery was a former Spurs skipper who got sold to Fulham and was hungry to prove himself as a manager. To me Mullery is probably still our best ever manager (first time around, mind you).

At the moment I'll take Slade's record over that of Ken Bate's little friend any day.

As a manager runner up in an FA cup final.

Slade runner up in a Play off final.

Wow! And as a player? No? How about his SATS results as a teacher?

Let's face it Russell Slade is a great guy, who did a fantastic job last year. However, he will never take us to the top, or even give us a massive kick-start in that direction.

You are totally entitled to contibute your own opinion, as am I. However, please remember you are not the Queen, so you are "I" and not "We".

Fair enough - that will be why I wrote "to me..." and "I'll take..."

The problem that RS has to overcome is that he is seen as Mr Nice. What the club wants is a Mr Nasty. Denis Wise fits the bill , he wont put up with any duffers on the coaching staff either.

I think it's well established that playing achievements means precisely f*** all when it comes to managerial success.

We don't all lie in a fluffy PC world where everyone works to the rules all the time...get over it!

Absolutely, beating the shit out of a taxi driver and breaking a team mates jaw whilst he sleeps is just a bit of a giggle, why are so many people seeing their arse about it?

Liked him at Wimbledon Mark 1, went off him pretty soon after that. Alan Cork was a better player!

Why did it take until page 5 for someone to bring this up? Is it a rumour, old news? I've never heard about this and am genuinely wondering why no one mention it until now.

If those incidents haven't been mentioned in this thread they undoubtedly have in others. They are common knowledge. Wise was found guilty of assaulting a taxi driver but aquitted on appeal. He was sacked from Leicester for breaking a team mate's jaw. He was also involved in many other incidents on the pitch, accusations of biting, fighting in tunnels etc. He is a nasty piece of work.

You'd've thought in a thread asking why people hate him it would have been mentioned sooner, though, even if it has been mentioned in other threads before now.

The match report in the argus says sources close to bloom are saying he's going to stick by slade. Of course, that could just be "the official word", but I hope not.

As I said on another thread, It's a myth, the fella wasn't asleep he was trying to stop Wise and another player having a row and got a slap for his troubles. But he wasn't sleeping !

Who the f*** are you to say that "we" don't want him here? Who is "we"?

The fact is that I for one would love to see him and Poyet in charge of the team. Who gives a f*** about being nice? I want to be proud of a winning team.

Denis Wise is a winner - nobody really ever liked Brian Clough, that is why he never managed England. However, in my opinion, he was the best manager that this country ever had.

Back in your box. I speak for all sane BHA fans when I say we don't want him here. End of.

That story in the Telegraph is just after the news broke about Wise breaking Davidsons nose and jaw and being sent home, thats the bare facts.
It later emerged that the players had been playing cards, Davidson had acted as a peacemaker after an argument broke out, and Wise returned to Davidsons room later that night and punched him in the face while he was sleeping.

He then sued Leicester for unfair dismissal, claiming they just wanted him out to get him off the wagebill (this being just prior to Leicesters self-induced financial crisis).
