I would be worried if a team like Villa came in for him as I believe that they represent the type of team with potential that he could be enticed to and also they would be the type of team to go after him as opposed to a team like Chelsea or Spurs who would want somebody with more experience. I dont think Wolves come into the same category as Villa.

A similar concern would be if Arry goes to England and David Moyes went to Spurs Everton would be another good choice for Gus.

My point is that I don't think Gus has done enough to interest a Spurs, a Villa or "even" an Everton as numero uno although one of them might entertain his potential as a number two. Would he accept that though? Someone like Wolves or Middlesborough, or Leeds if they give up on Warnock, are much more likely destinations if he is prepared to give up the support he has from Tony Bloom and take the risk of using one of them as a stepping stone. Failing that he will still be at the helm at the Amex next season.

If they want to go to the PL in style in 2013, then goodbye Summer 2012 to:

Ankergren
Calderon (great with the ball, but just can't defend due to lack of pace)
Painter (no pace, sadly)
CMS (not worked out for him during his 2 Championship stints)
Harley - sadly not worked out, and no bottle in the tackle.
Kasim - don't think he'll ever be good enough.
Sampayo - ditto
Rodgers - ditto

Give more time:
Hoskins - another try. Hardly played for us.
Sparrow - think that he's improved alot & deserves to stay.
Brezovan - our back up keeper to a new class keeper.
Vokes - done well.
Adgastein - surprised me & made good contributions in games. Young & improving.
Hall - class
JFC - class

Unsure about Vincelot & Reyes

All the rest are good.

Do you ever post anything positive? Is there anything at all you actually like about Brighton & Hove Albion?

Go away and stop copying what others say you silly little man.

Probably wrong post to copy what the big boys say really, as apart from questioning someone description of El-Abd as class, the rest are all disagreeing with someone who would release the other, whereas I wouldn't.

So before posting your cliche shit, actually understand whats being said. :tosser:

So Hoskins deserves another chance? Yet Sampayo and Rodgers don't? Hoskins has played more and is about 5 years older, so the other two have much more potential. Not sure about you but i've only seen Sampayo and Rodgers play 1 game, think its unfair to rule them out solely on that.

Also would give CMS another chance till January, give him time to settle, take the headlines/pressure off him and see if he improves. Hilarious how some people think we should get rid of bridcutt, we'd fall apart next season without him, core of our team. Agdesteins got too much potential ahead of him to release.

Pretty sure Don Draper won't be playing for us next season.

I (and others) was getting stick earlier in season for suggesting Harley was cack and would never make it with us.

Professional football - tough world, no room for sentiment

would like to think new keeper coming in, (keep brez as cover, and sell CA and columbian)
2 fullbacks to come in, (mattock hopefully as 1 of them), keep calde on the books
the engine room, box to box midfielder that we need to come in, (would still keep navs, defo dicker, prob spaz,) but rid of harley,
and another striker, with torby out on loan, maybe with jfc. vokes seems ok, guessing hoskins might go, along with bergkamp, will cms still be here? if not then 2 new strikers required.
just another mindless opinion obviously...

I'll have a go then;
Ankergren out
Brez keep (as no.2)
Poke ? out
Gonzalez (not got a clue isn't he a loanee ?)
Mattock sign
Painter out or back up do not think he is up to this level
Calderon stay
Dunk sell (for 2m+)
Greer stay
El Abd stay
Elphick stay
Bridcutt Stay
Reyes go back
Navs must be relatively cheap wages squad
JFC step up should be on the bench
Spaz keep squad
Harley Bye bye (sell 150K)
Vincelot keep for squad
Vicente keep (but do not break the bank still possibly a little fragile)
Buckley Keep
Lua Lua Keep
Noone sell 1m+
Spaz squad
Barnes Keep - if we do not he can go on a free should have tied up christmas even if only to sell on
CMS sell 2M+ and reinvest
Hoskins - unsure but will probably go 250-500K
Adgestein keep
Vokes go back

This would give us 4.5m based only on my valuation
2m new striker
1m new striker
1m new central mid
1m Mattock sign
only 500K down in transfers also sign right back/winger/ midfielder on frees for replacement
Maybe need another 1m on a good keeper

Basically agree with this, I watched Hoskins pre-season and he looked a better finisher than any of our other forwards, shame he has been injured. Be good to give him a run in the side, but still need a proven scorer to get in the play-offs....heard Michael's contract was coming up????

Ankergren - out
Brezovan - keep
Poke - out
Gonzalez - keep (3rd choice)

Calderon - keep
El-abd - keep
Dunk - keep
Greer - Keep
Reyes - needs to prove himself more, 50/50
Elphick - keep, just signed new deal
Mattock - definatley sign
painter - keep
Vincelot - out

Navarro - keep
sparrow - keep
bridcutt - keep, IMO player of the season
dicker - keep
foster-caskey - keep, play more next year
harley - out
Noone - should've sold him in january but keep unless someone bids 1mill+
Buckley - keep
Vicente - try everything to keep him
Lualua - keep, play more

CMS - keep, next year he'll be on fire!
barnes - keep
hoskins - keep if he can prove fitness,
agdestein - keep but loan out
vokes - out

buy: mattock, a striker, an attacking centre-mid, and a goalkeeper

Agree totally. I wonder if Swansea would tempt him too if Rodgers is poached. Not the 'special' club but somewhere that's already doing what we want to, using much the same methods.

Amazed at the amount of people who would not replace the likes of Navaro, Sparrow, Painter, Dicker etc. Don't get me wrong I love them all but they are very good LEAGUE 1 players and mediocre Championship players. There is no room for sentiment in this game, to be a top Championship side or even a premier league side, players like these need to be replaced (SORRY i'm just being honest)

Brez - keep as cover on the bench, bring in a new first choice keeper
Casper - Release
Gonzales - Release

Reyes - can't make up my mind, looked decent in his first loan spell, not so good on his second.
Mattock - sign him up
Painter - release (Vincelot and Hall can both offer cover to the LB position)
Calderon - keep as backup
Greer - Keep
El-Abd - keep
Dunk - Keep
Elphick - Keep
Vincelot - Keep, we need a player who can cover anywhere, he's not going to play every week but more than capable of stepping in if needed.
Hall - keep
Sampayo - Not seen enough of him to comment.

Dicker - keep as backup
Bridcutt - keep
Navarro - keep as backup
Noone - keep
Sparrow - keep as backup (I don't think we need to keep both Dicker and Sparrow though so one will go, both offer good and bad points so its difficult to pick which one should go)
Buckley - Keep
Vicenete - Keep
KLL - keep
Vicente - keep
Forster-Caskey - keep
Rodgers - Not seen enough to comment
Kasim - Not seen enough to comment
Harley - Get rid. It's not worked out for him at all here, apart from a couple of brief moments he hasn't shown why Poyet chased him for so long.

Barnes - keep
CMS - keep
Hoskins - Keep as backup (if he wants to stay, I don't think he's that happy though following his loaning out)
Vokes - sign
Adgestein - Keep

I am sure we will get some interest in the likes of Bridcutt and Dunk (and others) but I've assumed we can keep hold of them. A first choice Keeper, right back, a couple of midfields and a striker and I think we will be a better squad than this season.

Of those out of contract this summer I'd expect:
Brezovan 1 yr
Navarro 1 yr
Barnes 2 yrs
Vicente 2 yrs
Painter 1 yr
Bergkamp 1yr Development

so no deal for Ankergen, Poke, Gonzalez & Possibly Navarro depending on who Gus can bring in

I expect Gus to make certain players aware that they do not feature in his main matchday squad of 16 or overly close to his ideal squad of 25 and he will encourage them to look elsewhere:
Vincelot, Sparrow, Harley & Hoskins

I expect him to try and sign Vokes and Mattock on a permanent deal and look for someone who can play RB to challenge Calderon. We need stregthening in the centre of the pitch in both Midfield and Defence so we don't have to play 2 holding midfielders and we clearly need a top quality GK or 2 depending on who gets offered an extension and potentially a fourth striker depending on what Gus sees from the squad in pre-season.

It won't be as drastic as last summer but a handful of new signings plus some we've seen on loan with a similar number of current players who don't get much game time making way. I'm also expecting some players in the form of Assulin and Razak who are from a premiership side and want a season loan somewhere they can play passing football and compete
