Fraid not, would like to but haven't played in years and dont want to embarass myself.

Would like to get my 14 year old brother in as he looks a useful fast bowler, does anyone know of a club I could get him to go along to? (Im in Worthing so not too far from there if possible!)

He obviously hasn't played against Horsham yet! The most arrogant stuck up bunch of people ever. Very much into their must win ethos and if your face doesnt fit you could take 10 wickets for 10 runs in training and still not play in a full game.

Sadly I have played for a number of clubs like that over the years, which is why I now only play on Sundays. Life is way too short for all that crap.

You should deffo get him signup with with a team that has a proper colts setup like Brighton & Hove. I am always referring kiddies to clubs that have a colts setup as my club doesn't currently have one.

I got a text from my older brother this week, to say that my 9 year old nephew got his maiden 50 [from 19 balls!]. . Fair play to him.

I think it's great when youngsters get involved in cricket, It's so much more relaxed, supportive and less pressurised to win at all costs unlike you get with youth football.

The same nephew is also a goalkeeper at the Leeds academy, so I guess he'll experience both sides!

80 young players in Speldhurst (a small village) all under 15 and having a great time. Some of the bigger local clubs take it quite seriously, but we just aim to turn out able cricketers who enjoy the game and who can play the game in the right way. Oddly, this tends to produce quite successful sides. No need for ranting and raving.

played until i was 16, keep meaning to take it up at uni but never get round to it

was an 'erratic' bowler to say the least, and a shoe-in for number 11 batsman

best figures, well, not best, but most proud of were an utter bore-fest of 2-0 of 5 overs, the ball was in the hole every ball, with about 6 shaving the off stump

best batting was probably about 5 or something:(

I think in some places cricket is still very upperclass. Specially when you get the local village mentality as well. In somewhere like Brighton there are so many clubs i guess its not so much of an issue.

Thanks, ill have a bit of a scout round on the net for him. If you've got any details about Brighton and Hove could you PM them to me.

No I don't play.It is almost the most boring sport in the world

Well, thanks for that.

To those who have never bothered to take part, I can see why it may appear boring, I'm sure lots of things appear boring to lots of people, for instance, I find people posting posts like yours incredible boring.

Incidentally, are you always so dismissive of things you haven't actually tried?

I play for a social team called the Plums, based half in Winchester and half in London, and a work team. Best batting is probably mid 30s, tend to come in no. 10 and swing at every ball till I get out. Bowling, medium pace, wicket to wicket, took four in an over two years ago, but that was against dogshit batsmen!

Went on a cricket tour to Amsterdam a few weeks ago, can't recommend it enough!!

Yeah for St Peter's 2nd's or 3rd's.

I heard that apparentely Adam Virgo might be playing for the 3's this week because one of his mates is a regular and apparentely he is a very good cricketer.
