Who is or was the greatest Rock band of all time?

It was without a shadow of a doubt The Stones. Even as geriatrics embarrassing themselves they can still sell out tours in minutes, such is the aura.

Look how many genuinely classy albums the Stones have made and name me one other band who can match their quality and influence over such a sustained period.

They have been a bit iffy to shit since the 80's but even so...

Led Zep leads it for me, 100%.

I saw the current incarnation of Thin Lizzy last month, and I thought they were excellent. I wasn't sure in the lead up to it, but after the first 30 seconds of the first song (Are You Ready?) I was pretty much convinced, I know some may say it's not Lizzy without Lynott, but honestly, I don't think it matters, they are superb.

Led Zeppelin for me. Paid £450 to see them at the O2 and I don't think I would have done that for anyone else.

Cream deserve a mention, even if they were shortlived they made a big impact

I did the same, and you're right, would never have done it for any other band. I still hold out for a Blu-Ray release of that show one day so I can re-live it, it was an unreal show, surpassed every expectation I had.
