Led Zepp easy.......anyone on here saw them at Knebworth 1979 will know what I mean, awesome......

Did they not win the BBC best rock band of all time, beating Queen and The Beatles

Also respect for The Who

Did anyone see the Rory Gallagher special on Sky Arts over the weekend, forgot how good he was (RIP)

Depends on definition of Rock.

Going for The Velvet Underground.

David Bowie when he performed with Spiders from Mars Band second place
Nice calls. Anyway, sacrilege I know but I just find led zep silly - sky arts showed led zep live followed by the kids are alright a few months ago & the contrast was immense & almost cruel - it's the Who for me

This version psb for the greatest ever rock guitar solo from Michael Schenker from 4 mins lasting around 5 min. I implore you all to listen to this.

Funny you should say that, it's on my turntable at the moment. Just finished doctor doctor. One of the best live albums I think> Saw the in Brighton at the Dome in 1978 then when we played at Rocklahoma USA

The guitar virtuosity shown from Schenker here especially from 7.42 is just insane. Just listen to it ! MENTAL !

Oh gawd, not this question again! It was The Who last time this came up, and the time before that, it is now, and still will be the next timebody starts a thread about the greatest rock band of all time!

But what is the best band you have seen live that never made it really big and probably most people have never heard of?

For me it is "The Drivers" - Sussex band who gave many people lots of sweaty fun with their Police/Jam style original material and a good live presence in the pubs of Kent and East Sussex. Nick Van Eede, their front man, went on to form "Cutting Crew".
