I think the producers of the X Factor and Cowell wanted leon to win, the show was all staged to give him the best possible chance , this is because he will be easy to manage and maniplulate and will do whatever they tell him to do. Rhydian was unlikely to do this. Leon also fitted into their " pop " mould more easily. I expect Lloyd Webber to be on the phone to Rhydian today to offer him a major starring role in one of his musicals in the West End. Cowell's loss.

Well I thought Leon AND Rhydian gave excellent performances last night. I really couldn't seperate them, so once Same Difference were out of the equation, I voted for both of them.

Cowell dissapointed me last night. He had said all through the show what a star Rhydian was and he should win, last night he started off by saying Same Difference deserved to win, then he said Rhydian should win if there was any justice and on the after show he said Leon deserved to win on the night, fecks sake Cowell.

He can't exactly say the winner was shit - knowing he was about to sign to his record label could he?!!

This just goes to prove that this show is not about the best winning but the amount of money brought in by voting.

To get the best, as in strictly come dancing, the voting should be done by the judges, the experts who know what they are talking about.

They could have marked each one out of ten for each song and then the obviously the top total would have won.

For what it is worth I thought Leon was bad last night he was very flat.

Shocking result, Leon will soon be in the same club as Steve Brookstein and Michelle McManus, forgotten.

I am sure what won it for him was the anti-Rhydian vote. I think whoever came up against Rhydian in the final would have won. Theres no 'sitting on the fence' with Rhydian, people love him or hate him. When it came to the crunch all the people who cant stand Rhydian voted for Leon to prevent Rhydian winning, not neccesarily because they are actually Leon fans.

Rhydians attitude in the rehersal stage has come back to haunt him, he was totally big-headed and obnoxious then, and a lot of viewers havent forgotten. Did you notice that right at the end his new modest mask momentarily slipped. While they were waiting for Dermot to announce the result Rhydian gave an evil looking stare, looking very impatient and mumbled something along the lines of 'come on then', then about a second before Dermot said 'Leon' Rhydian tutted loudly and turned his head away.

Forced to watch some of it last night, for the 1st time. The plastic poncve was head and shoulders above the rest, as a singer.

makes you wonder at betting scams 7 the like. This time next year I expect Leon will be forgotten but the other one may make it to BB or the Jungle, maybe.

He didnt do himself many favours on the Xtra factor after the show either - he was in a major time strop. I can understand why though!! When they were waiting I would have looked annoyed, they waited ages! The way he reacted was understandable too - it was a really stupid result!

The wait to announce the winner took this piss, it must have been 45 seconds, why, whats the point, if I was Rhydian I would have said " for fecks sake O'Leary are you fecking blind or can't you read you twat ". Also he was pissed off as he saw his big moment gone against an average spotty 18 year old Jock but he was very gracious in defeat. He came across as the complete professional.

I thought that was what lost him the final. Visited my sister in law today and she told me that she couldnt get throught to vote for him the line saying 'you have been unsuccessful please try again, you have not been charged for this call. She tried 10 times but no joy.
Could there have been a problem with the phones?

Rhydian's version of Somewhere was bland and very very unimpressive when compared to the version this song when it's sung with a bit of imagination and GREAT delivery of the lyrics. Have a listen to this and tell me you don't agree

On the other hand,Leon's covering of the Ray Charles' classic You Don't Know Me was brilliant.

Stunned that the right person won and good luck to him, I thought Cowell would rig it.

Would have love to have heard Rhydian cover this PJ Proby song though! Perfect X factor stuff.

Agree with all of that.
The Kylie factor must've helped plus the fact that he got to sing the final song first so people had twice as long to vote for him than Rhydian.

To be fair I think all the finalists will do OK. Leon is marketable to teenage girls who are the only ones to buy chart singles nowadays, Rhydian clearly has the best voice so be it on the west end of classical album he'll do well, and Same Difference could easily do some kids TV or S club covers before slipping off to Butlins for the rest of their lives.

Huge amount of chat today on the interweb about phone lines not working. Apparently the system went down but because Leon wnet on first after the phone lines were unfrozen (when it was down to just two) he was coining the votes before the error.

Looks like there could be a major stink about this - X-Factor admitting there was a problem but not yet admitting it affected the vote.

The X Factor judges spoilt it by making it a regional vote, Louise did it saying all of Scotland pickk your phones up, Cowell did it saying SD would be a suprise victory for England, so in the end and after 14 weeks and 100000 auditions it did not come down to who was the best singer, or Leoan and SD need not have turned up but down to Scotland V Wales V England.

Why can't people understand that these things are NOT talent contests in that sense? Its a popularity contest. People are fully entitled for who THEY would like to win. That will not always be the person who YOU want to win, even if he does have a technically better singing voice.

TECHNICALLY Cliff Richard has a much better singing voice than Nick Cave, or Shane McGowan, or Iggy Pop, etc, etc, etc but not many people would choose to listen to him over any of them. Its really not just about that.
