Somehting fissy going on here. EVERY single week Rhydian was BY FAR the best performer. Rhydian is a genuine talent. Don't know about the snide comments on here, why is he a freak, why is he weird, seemed a decent chap to me and vert gracious in defeat even when it was clearly he ws gutted.
This is the biggest travesty ever on one of these contests and I can only put it down to all 4 000 000 Scottish people voted 3 times each for Leon.
I suppose Rhydian's downfall is that he is not so much a pop star as an operatic and stage show star. Also Leon has the girly vote I suppose. Leon had his best week and I thought his version of the final song was pretty decent but Rhydian is a class act. Makes me laugh when Walsh kept going on that Leon is better than Buble, a start who has sold millions of albums and Hope apparently were much better than the Spice Girls who have sold 50 000 000 records.
The show lost a lot of credibility tonight as it is clearly not about giving the contract to the best singer.

It has unearthed some good singers , Leona Lewis, Will Young, Rhydian so tis credibility in awarding the best singer this year has been lost as clearly Rhydian was by far the bst singer.

Rhydian in terms of talent was the best singer, but I think in terms of pop records, out of the 2 Leon would be better - you can't really see Rhydian releasing a pop record. I think Rhydian will have a longer career than Leon.

As far as I can tell, it is a glorified karaoke contest. They are going to find some decent voices, but the marketing that these dashing new talents get is far and above anything that a ordinary musician gets when they follow the proper path. The reason why these people tend to sell so many albums is that they build a fanbase from day one as opposed to capturing the audience with their musical talents and handcrafted albums.

Quite a few people who the Leona Lewis album and Will Young has sold a few, Rhyian is a genuine talent and this sort of put down is musically snobbery nothing more nothing less.

But it does seem to be far more about brand loyalty. Of course, there are going to be those that are decent, but much better than the other singer/songwriters that they are outselling? I don't think the amount of albums sold by competition winners is a decent yardstick - the longlevity of their career is much more accurate.
To counter my argument, you have an example such as Girls Aloud. How have they done so well for themselves? Are they particularly good or are they marketed at the younger generation who will swallow anything (bad turn of phrase)?
Whatever happened to Hear'say? Fastest selling non-charity UK single, wasn't it? That should bode well for their future....

I think that Rhydian lost it tonight by singing with Katherine Jenkins who over powered him in their duet. I like her singing but not tonight in the duet.
He will still be earning a very good living when Leon is long forgotten because Leon cannot sing as well as him. Tonight on most songs Leon was a flat as a pancake at the start of each song but got better as the song went on.

Cowell dissapointed me last night. He had said all through the show what a star Rhydian was and he should win, last night he started off by saying Same Difference deserved to win, then he said Rhydian should win if there was any justice and on the after show he said Leon deserved to win on the night, fecks sake Cowell.
