I have rather a loud little device bought to me from Mexico, they use them at Mexican games, it's like an air horn, but one you blow into, f***ing loud, reckon I might debut it on Saturday

Vuvuzela is actually a corruption of "dejavuvuzela",an African word used by witch doctors to describe the systematic banning of dangerous (under health and safety regulations)and moronic musical instruments in football stadia.If you can remember the old wooden rattle which was considered a harmless way of bringing atmosphere to "dead" gounds you will also recall the large number of one eared pensioners who were lucky enough to stand next to these football enliveners.

"Vuvuzela" is,in fact, a palindrome,"Alez uv uv" being a Bushman phrase meaning "come on you French",followed by a plastic raspberry.

I think in most cases, even if no actual consultation has been done, going with what seems to be the clear wishes of a large majority is fair. A poll would, I'm fairly sure, show that most people think they're shit. For me they're part of the homogenisation of football, up there with music being played after goals, having to sit down and cheerleaders. I've already commented on their very recent introduction to football, as told of by a South African journalist during the World Cup. The fact that they're made of plastic is eloquent comment on their place in the scheme of things, so I'm another one who's happy they're banned. As I've said before, what happened to generating the atmosphere for ourselves? We could always try singing. It's unorthodox for home games I know, but it might just work.

Sadly I reckon they didn't speak to a single fan over this, why should we believe they did? I made my point on ATC, but not so much as a response till after the decision was made. Agreed. I'm opposed to the ban as it's another step towards the total sanitisation of football - but it's not something I'm prepared to go to the barricades for. However I didn't see any element of 'consultation'. Whilst I freely admit that only a tiny percentage of Albion fans post on NSC a thread on here to gauge fans' reactions would have been one indicator they could have used. (Didn't they do a similar thing about the fans' bar at the new ground?). Add that to the Supporters' Club views and you may have got a idea of what the majority of Albion fans wanted.

The difference between the fans' bar and the vuvuzela issue is that the fans' bar was an idea that originated with fans, was asked for by fans and has been agreed to by the club. The vuvuzela 'consultation' was initiated by the club.

And I have no idea who was consulted about vuvuzelas.

Pardon me but as an over 50 I have no objection to anything that might help create both noise and atmosphere at Withdean. And anyway, given that it's our last year there anything that annoys that irritating old goat of a neighbour should definitely be allowed.
