I just can't get wound up by how this has all played out. The sums of money involved are ludicrous, the pot stirring from Romano, Caicedo being whatever he's being (or being advised by his agents to do)

It's all just a farce, a comedy.

He will go. We will get some money. The club will continue doing its thing and we'll be here on NSC rambling about the next big drama.

Players do have a say in where they move to though. In this case he was wrong to promise to go to Chelsea and he’s done this all about as badly as a player can tbh, but none of that means he has to choose to go to
Premier League footballers are very well-remunerated, of course. But they are still people with emotions and desires, not mere commodities to be traded.
True but his preference doesn’t trump money on the table. He should have realised there are consequences in signing an extended contract.

This is a total shambles and I think that entirely the fault of Moises agents and to an extent Chelsea. They're now going to have to pay well over what we would have accepted a week ago. Moises is being so poorly advised here. Turning down Liverpool for that basket case is utterly insane.

Of course his preference trumps money on the table. If he doesn't agree terms with Liverpool, he doesn't go. Obviously, that doesn't mean we have to facilitate a move to Chelsea but we're not bundling him into the back of the van and driving him to Anfield.

That smacks of the agents furiously back peddling as they realise that the Romano bluff hasn't worked and the reality of the situation sinks in.

In truth, the statement is meaningless, because if Chelsea match the bid, he will only be able to join Chelsea if that bid is accepted by Brighton. I'd be willing to bet that Brighton, having accepted a bid from Liverpool will not accept a gazumping offer from Chelsea. It's not the way that TB & PB work. They are straight dealers with a reputation to uphold. It's currently Liverpool or nothing and that fact is starting to become clear to agents who will make a fortune out of the deal, but didn't want to kiss goodbye to the larger fortune that they would have made from a Chelsea deal.
Yes, exactly. I think there is no way they accept a Chelsea offer, however big it is and regardless of whether it is the biggest offer on the table, until and unless Liverpool withdraw their bid.

Not only am I sure that TB and PB are honourable, straight-talking businessmen who keep to their word; they also need to be seen and acknowledged as honourable, straight-talking businessmen who keep to their word.

the approach I would take might get me pelters on here. Maybe a little arm around the shoulder and say we will support his move to Chelsea but we need the value met and it needs to happen now as we want to focus on the season ahead. We can't do anything about Chelsea meeting that valuation but if they don't you must understand that you are contracted to Brighton and we will welcome you back and support you if you want to leave next summer, but again the valuation will need to be met.

would rather him play at liverpool a club with real legacy then chelsea who bought every trophy they ever won tbh but money seems to be his driving force kid is young and bit immature i think.

But, it would leave him a Brighton player. Chelsea is all noise and bluster until they make a bid which is acceptable.
