Do you rate the Athletic (I don’t subscribe) or DT? I find the DT are accurate …. so much so, there’s a dearth of news :(. You can see why news starved fans turn to clickbaiters, Kaveh and Dharmesh.
I gave up on The Athletic because of all the unattributed quotes they seem happy to use. If every single source is speaking on conditions of anonymity ... ?? I think Ornstein is more selective than most in which rumours he retweets. Some of the northern DT writers have decent contacts at certain clubs and Matt Law occasionally guesses right. Generally they don't stick their necks out as far as people at other papers, so they don't get as much wrong as most others. But I repeat, in my experience mostly no-one knows anything.

Genuinely staggered by Chelsea now. Seems the Lavia rumours are true.
It's nuts. They could have signed him 2 months ago! And if they sign Caicedo he isn't even going to play!
It's total f***ing lunacy. Guaranteed they go in for Kudus.
They've got five centre backs that would walk into most teams. The whole thing is totally deranged.

I’m not too bothered at this point, don’t want to jinx things, but like all our players who have moved to pastures new, they all have turned into a dud. The Grass isn’t always Greener.

You have to wonder what is the point in this all, they’ll have 30 players again, and have to offload. It’s a bizarre strategy which has no end.

Despite City obviously having all the money in the world they do at least seem to have a strategy and plan with players. Players like Zak Sturge, Kendry Paez and the lad who was 14 they knicked from us who went to Chelsea. There’s no hope they’ll go on to ever be a first team regulars, as there’s about 20 players ahead of them before they even get a sniff.

Colwill for example, new contract but I bet next Summer, they’ll be two bids from AC Milan, before he eventually ends up at West Ham for £35m.

I'm not staggered but disgusted by Chelsea. Last year (after spending shed loads) they messed up. This year they are employing weighted checkbook football again to buy their way out of the first mess. Laughable. They may get Caicedo at a price we accept, it does however leave a bad taste in the mouth!

If it weren't for Amortisation Chelsea would've been given a points deduction / relegation and fined £100m by UEFA for breaching FFP, but no organisation has any balls nowadays.

the £600m on top of this summer is sickening, making a mockery out of FFP lol.

The ‘breakthrough’ in this story appears to be the fact that Chelsea have worked out that they need to spend £100m+ to sign Caicedo.

Now, I’m no ITK journalist but surely that thought would have occurred to them before?

Anyway, still no movement but perhaps prior to the weekend there will be if they’ve finally worked out what the fee is.

Not sure that’s quite right. All of White, Trossard and Burn have done well.

Bissouma went into a basket case club and also suffered with injury. I expect him to shine this year.

It’s early days for Mac Allister but he’s a classy player and I’d back him to do well.

The duds have been Cucurella and Maupay, I guess. You could make a case for Cucurella given the state of Chelsea last season, but he could well be second or third choice there if they don’t manage to move him on.

If chelsea have bid £48m for the saints lad the Reds have been wasting their time on are they still going to be in for Moises? The pair would cost them £150m plus wages etc and Shirley even they would struggle to justify that to FFP?
The Reds loss could be Brighton’s gain unless cfc are forcing Liverpool to cough up the £50m leaving them free to make the £100m bid….
Got to love this time of the year.

not sure. can see them going for Lavia and Adams for a little less in total than Caicedo giving them better depth
