It’s a good point and not sure how it works in practice. On the Rice deal it took them a while to agree on the total fee and then another few weeks to discuss and agree payment schedule so not sure if both are discussed from the outset or if it starts with agreeing the overall fee then payment structure is a secondary negotiation.
Oh, God. So if we don’t give them 10 year interest free credit are we going to have Gordon the Moron back on here selling ‘free Moises’ china tea sets ?

Well done The Albion for staying firm.

I'm sure RDZ will give Moises a cuddle again and everything will be fine for the new season.

You should have let us have Colwill, Chelsea... you'd have your man by now too. But you didn't. So now you have to pay up, or shut up.

The one thing that none of us know, was the payment structure of any offer.

We keep hearing Brighton instantly rejected 80m (and are holding out for more) seems to be the added conclusion.

But speculating, but could it also be, that the figure broadly speaking, isn't that far off but the amount up front could be the issue with Chelseas love of long contracts for amortisation.

If Chelsea say we'll give you 80m over 6 years with only say, 20M up front. ofc Bloom says on your bike, but it's reported as "Brighton reject 80m offer".

If TB was offered the whole 80m cash and a sell on clause?
The payment structure has nothing to do with amotisation. Chelsea could pay the 100m for Moises in one single CHAPS transfer, but it would still amortise over the length of his contract - although the max amortisation period as far as FFP is concerned is now 5 years.

I doubt that whatever structure is suggested has much of an impact on Bloom accepting or rejecting an offer. Chelsea aren't going anywhere over the next few years, and even if they were, the rule is that football creditors are always prioritised and paid in full if a club goes into admin.

Can someone explain why Chelsea are not putting in another bid yet? I get the plan is for moises to throw his toys out. We all predicted this. But why is the time so long between bids. What am I missing ?

they get their man deadline day 90 / 100 whatever happens.

They can afford to let it play out and let Moises start crying again. It may knock them off 5m if a real stink is caused

Clearly they're not entirely convinced he's worth what Brighton value him at, they're in no rush - 3 weeks til window shuts - and have other vfm options.

I’m guessing, but maybe waiting to see if having a potentially stroppy player makes us reconsider their latest bid? Or currently just letting the stink of having a moody player around the place bed in so when they next bid we might be a bit more welcoming of it… but really it’s anyones guess what their next move is & I would think none of it will change Tony’s stance on it.

Attitude, in terms of not showing up to training and trying to force a move.

Skipping out on training isn’t an attitude issue?

Could be.

Still.

The only reason I can think of is that they're hoping that a mixture of Caicedo's grumpiness, his agents' social media propaganda, and all the other twitterings from the Chelsea troll army, will somehow snowball into pressure on Bloom and co to cave in. Obviously that won't happen but I guess the hope is better than the perceived humiliation of coughing up a larger bid. It's a risky strategy as they've already lost the valuable preseason period with him, and there's the danger of other offers coming in.

Yep.

I'm rather enjoying this. It's giving the impression we are a one man team, easy to underestimate. I'm a big fan of being underestimated. We have had far too much praise lately.

That David Weir interview I just posted suggests the notion of pressure on Bloom is a long way from the truth. I would imagine Bloom is loving this.

Because they are counting on Bloom and Barber thinking like a large proportion of this board are - 'Bored with this, let's just get it done'. All the time there is nobody else in for him I imagine they will drag it out all they can.

Brighton Bubble doesn't know any more than any of us.

Paul Barber has said Caicedo has a tight hamstring, so he wouldn't go into training when it was only for those who played on Sunday, for a warm down.
