Nope. Not the first he's missed in recent times which turned out to be crucial (Leicester & Liverpool spring to mind).

Not a bad shout in all honesty, he make lack in finesse being a centre back and stopper, but he knows how to lead by example, and can certainly put his foot through a ball.

I often think that players over think when trying to take a penalty, just aim for one of the corners, hit the ball with power, and nine times out of ten you should succeed. To stand any chance of saving a penalty the keeper has to react instantly, and/or get very lucky indeed.

His desire to boost his goalscoring stats exceed his abilities from the spot. As others have mentioned, he looks indecisive, he looks short of confidence.

Probably the best penalty taker I've seen in recent times is Harry Kane. He nearly always slams it to the keepers right, which should make him predictable - but he does it so well, with such force and accuracy into the side-netting that it makes no difference, keepers can never get near it. That consistency can only come with relentless practice, making it almost a muscle-memory thing for him.

Maupay is simply nowhere near that level. His pens are all over the shop. I don't even think he knows what he's going to do in his run-up.

Must admit, I was absolutely CACKING it when Propper stepped up.

In open play, that bloke couldn't hit the side of a ferry if he was standing on the dock.

Said in the summer I didn’t particularly rate him, nothing has changed.

Little presence physically, questionable attitude, not the greatest finisher and re penalties, not any time soon.

His most redeeming feature is his ability to wind up several irritating opponents..... Loved it when he mocked Grealish’s hair last season......
