I will train it from Eastbourne/Polegate at 10:30am, straight into Brighton centre, starting off in the Railway and nearby boozers, then hop on the train to Falmer for kick off. Oh, Ican just see it now....

I wonder whether drinking at the Uni will be ok, they have a wealh of half decent bars and of course its cheap as chips.... Otherwise for me it'll be as it is at the moment - Caxton Arms just round the corner from Brighton station

As someone who knows the uni pretty well these days, I would LOVE to know where these decent bars are!

Shame it's closed down.

Really ?

I used to run that for Tony Paice before it got taken away from him..great shame; the banks own managers ran it into the ground. :(

If you are suggesting that The Swan is run by a misarable manager, and you are referring to the current owner I can only assume that you caught him on an off day. He is in fact a most genial host, and I will have no hesitation in using his establishment for a pre-match drink should he decide to open on match days.

Yeah hes a blinder, isn't he?!!!

Does he still have that newspaper cutting up on the wall showing the local countryside with 'look no seagulls' scrawled across it?!

I once took great pleasure in knocking down his wooden sign giving directions to the pub - he's a twat and The Swan should be boycotted!!!

Your driving up to it's normal standards then?????

Heard you were up to no good in Zagreb, would loved to heard you say "you hooooliganz" to a bunch of scarfers. At least you made the flight, what happened?

Gardeners Arms in Lewes for me.

New owner just taken over there who i know well. You'll be glad to hear he is not planning on changing anything, although I have suggested to him he might like to sponsor one of the last games at Withdean to promote the Gardeners, which he seems interested in.

Mr Lovechild, I think it's taken as read that the stadium bars will be avoided if they are shit.

One of the problems the club has to address (and I think they are trying to - or rather they're not going to be allowed not to), is that the area around Brighton Station has plenty of decent pubs to choose from (Battle of Trafalgar, Evening Star, The Albert, The Nelson, Caxton, the Welly, the Eddy, and pushing it a bit further, the Basketmakers), and has to entice people from there up to the ground.

I would happily spend my money at Falmer Stadium if it were the right kind of bar or pub at the ground, especially as it goes towards helping the club. However, for me, any pissy Carlsberg/Tetley corporate bar would mean I stay in the City Centre until it's time to leave for kick-off.

Yes he probably does still have the mentioned newspaper cutting on display. It will be alongside the notices that declare:
Unruly children will be captured and sold as slaves.
Credit cards can only be accepted if the cardholder is seventy-five years old and accompanied by both parents.

If you managed to lighten up you might recognise some intended humour instead of boasting of your disgraceful wanton criminal damage. It's guys like you who give football fans a bad name.

No prob's there ATF. He can whack-on an enormous extension, & concrete the pond so he can stick a load of tables on it. He could even do a BBQ (when the weather suits) 'n' all. The locals can come out & party with us. Perfick!

You took the words right out of my mouth!
