Will probably drink in the town centre as I do now and just get the train from Brighton to Falmer

Coming from Guildford I have yet to decide my drinking habits. Currently I pop into the Crown & Anchor. So I haven't really answered your question. Apologies.

I wish the Railway would buy some decent furniture. It's a mish mash of shit chair and tables and really isn't set up well to watch football.

Of course, any answers to this question, will have to hope that said pubs have not gone bust in the meantime during 'the great depression re-visited'

although i am quite happy if this miserablly hosted establishment suffers a change of management...........

think it's because they would rather not have football on. yeah furniture is terrible and it's so dark in there. usually there's no one behind the bar to serve ....... don't bother going there much these days

If they changed the management there it could make an absolute mint on match days.

If you are suggesting that The Swan is run by a misarable manager, and you are referring to the current owner I can only assume that you caught him on an off day. He is in fact a most genial host, and I will have no hesitation in using his establishment for a pre-match drink should he decide to open on match days.

Well unless he chooses to cut his own nose off to spite his face - & close his doors on match days: he'll probably make as much money in those few hours than he'd take all week!

ps Excellent shout by THPP. A fans boozer is definitely the way forward I reckon.

Apart from the fact its barely big enough for about 15 people.

No prob's there ATF. He can whack-on an enormous extension, & concrete the pond so he can stick a load of tables on it. He could even do a BBQ (when the weather suits) 'n' all. The locals can come out & party with us. Perfick!

Is the swan the nearest boozer , if so then I will use that if open on a sat. Providing it's not a sportsman # 2

Otherwise will just continue to drink in town and get the 9 min train to falmer

i remember when i worked for southern water at falmer in the early nineties it was a f***ing miserable unwelcoming place, to say the least. they had two universities and a big works on their doorstep ,and they still came across like ungrateful c unts who would have just preferred the odd shepherd in a smock and a clay pipe.

I might take in a few Lewes pubs on the way through.
