Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Three of us were there then, all now early middle-aged, desperately wondering if a 19 year old winger will be joining our football club and talking about it on a space-age piece of equipment in the corner of a room in our house. Now that's what I call progress.

So true. I am off to listen to Confessions of a pop group after your earlier post.

Indeed - the 'Cost of Loving' Tour where he used be-mulletted session musicians and caused a few jaws to drop with his brand of white-soul. Thing is, that period gets a lot of stick but I think it stretched him musically and some of his classic solo albums can be traced right back to that stuff. I love the follow up album 'Confessions of a Pop Group' with all the Swingle Singers/MJQ/classical influence on it. Sometimes, most times, he gets it right. Other times very, very wrong but that's a thread on it's own and I think only you and me would write on it.

edit: And 'The Modfather'

true like you say thats another thread...as for that stage in the style council, they didnt even bother with a support, they played their very dodgy video "jerusalem" instead...very bizarre!! still have it on video somewhere...
without boring the non weller fans..my favourite gig was Finsbury park in 96 i think when Stanley Road was in full flight....by the way the last tour of the jam, my mate went to wembley arena (one of the 5/6 shows at wembley) & said it was being filmed but alas ive never found it on video/dvd or the last ever gig!! i had it on cd but not video...ps sorry for non weller fans???

Kraftwerk @ The Brighton Centre, must have been about '76. My brother took me, I was about 14 and fell asleep.

I went to that Kraftwerk concert too. I was about 18. Even though 35 years have passed I can still remember the boredom after they had played their well known hit. Everything sounded exactly the same. Thought it was at the Dome though.

Tangerine Dream - Cyclone tour 1978 at the Hammersmith Odeon

Good call! Mine was Tangerine Dream at Chichester Festival Theatre in - I think - August 1974. Bizarrely, I persuaded my parents to come. BIG mistake: we left at the interval. :nono:

First proper 'rock' gig was the awesome Thin Lizzy on the Jailbreak tour at the Brighton Dome in the autumn of 1976. Classic line-up with Goreham and Robertson on guitars, Lynott dazzling the crowd with his mirror bass and Downey battering his kit into submission. Superb and still one of my favourite ever gigs ... :guitar: ... alongside U2 at the Top Rank in around 81/82.

Another one for Hammersmith Odeon, in my case Ray Charles probably early 60s. My second was Freddie Starr and the Midnighters in Llandudno, Ray Charles was just a bit better than Freddie Starr.

Saw Kraftwerk at The Dome on the Computer World tour. Must have been in 1981/2. Had all the usual favourites - Radioactivity, Trans Europe Express, The Model, Computer World, Showroom Dummies, The Man Machine.....

GOSBTS
John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Dome 1970,
Jimmy McCulloch (ex Thunderclap Newman) was on lead guitar and Larry Taylor (ex Canned Heat) was on bass. Not a bad band to see for your first ever gig.
