iPhone exclusive to O2. Work it out.

...but you can buy legally unlocked iphones quite easily from France and Germany. In this day and age of the internet it is quite easy to purchase one.

UK consumers can, of course, go to France or Germany, buy an unlocked iPhone, and use it on their current network. O2, however, pointed out that some services will not work. In essence anyone doing this would end up with an iPod that can take pictures, send texts, access the internet and make phone calls.
Not a complete working iPhone then. A dildo is more useful than a "legally unlocked iphones quite easily from France and Germany".

No. Just like most electronic equipment it isnt totally compatible with everything.

The iphone is designed to work with certain networks. The iphone has features which are not supported on all networks. And some networks have features which are not supported on iphones.

The good thing is, if you dont want an iphone you dont have to buy one. They're not compulsory.

iPhone 3G 16gb.

I bought an unlocked iPhone in Hong Kong in April and used it with my Orange pay monthly sim card. I was so impressed that when my Orange contract ran out three weeks ago I decided to go legit and got the new 3G model on an 18mo contract from O2. It costs me for £40pm for 1000mins/500texts/unlimited internet, but its a tax deductable business expense that my company pays for.

N95 8Gb - Does everything the Iphone does except it also sends MMS has a decent camera, video recorder and genuine sat nav not just google maps. Oh an I can surf flash based websites which the iphone can't do.

awesome phone.

That said if I was getting a phone now I'd be looking at the HTC touch Pro or waiting til the end of the year for the Sony X1 Xperia

Absolutely - I don't have a 8gb but the old one is super.

However. My new Samsung Omnia arrived last night, which on paper has the same feature set, plus a better battery life and a touch screen. Haven't used it yet so can't comment but the N95 will be a tough act to follow.
