Blackberries are cack, as is the iPhone.

I'd recommend the Nokia 6210 or 6220 if you want a smartphone, or the Sony Ericsson C902 if you didn't

Nokia 6210 or 6220 are cack, if you want a .........

If you're going to post, at least put some meat on it. I like my Blackberry. a lot, it does everything I need it too, including Sat Nav, and web broswing, plus a qwerty keyboard which I have no problems using. The camera isn't that great, but it is fine for what I need to use it for. Blackberries are also universally rated highly, in tech mags, on Mobile phone sites and by users. As indeed are your Nokias, the missues has a N82 which is fine except it has no qwerty keyboard, but it does have Wifi. Hey ho.

As for the iPhone, well, the millions of happy users would tell you it's not cack, but I guess if you have had one and feel it is no good, then there you go. When I played with one I was astounded as to how good it was, I might get the next gen one, whenever it comes out.

I certainly would never buy a Nokia over an iPhone though, not till one comes out that isn't cack eh?

Some kind of random Nokia, will get an iPhone in the new year though mainly as I have a Mac and I know it will work with it. Won't go near another Sony Ericsson - the last one I had only managed six months before dying.

First off, the iPhone.

Yes, the interface and package is very sleek, its the same thing Apple did with the iPod, they didn't invent, they took an existing product and made it more usable and slapped a selling point on it (in this case, the internet on your phone). While the iPhone is good at a couple of things it is fundamentally flawed for people that want to look past the basics.

Picture the scene, Albion are at Wembley and you're behind the goal, its the last minute and we have a free kick. You get your iPhone out to record a video...
Oh wait, no, you cant. Well, I'll just take a picture to MMS to a friend of mine... ah, well maybe I can inform them of the score by texting them all at once.... shit. Oh well, I'll just take a picture and bluetooth it to my mate... right, ok, er I'll hook the iPhone up to my laptop as a bluetooth modem and send the pictures over MSN to my mate... again, I can't.

These features where in phones a good 1-2 years older than the iPhone at time of release (for example, the Sony Ericsson P990). The iPhone is a good example of form over function, I don't deny what it can do it does pretty well and my mum would love the phone as all she does is call and text.

Blackberries are great in the business market, the BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) groupware and push emails are fantastic for people that need to read their email on the move, but again they are technologically inferior to the newer handsets on the market.

First of all, you need a specialist Blackberry data plan to access the internet, if you don't have one then tough, you'll get no GPRS/WAP at all.
Second of all, you mention that yours has a QWERTY keyboard and sat nav. My nokia 6600 could run TomTom mobile in 2003. QWERTY keyboards can be found on the P910.

I fail to see a selling point of a Blackberry over an X, Y, or Z to an average user. They are hardly small with days worth of battery life. If you should get one thats had a security policy put on it you better be *very* friendly with the BES admin or else that ain't coming off.

Anyway, I'm rambling now. My opinions are based upon working as a software engineer in the mobile phone industry, so I've coded for these and hundreds of other mobiles day in, day out for the past 5 years. My experiences are usually past what the average user does but it does mean I get to have a good look of a handset.

And if you really want a recommendation for a phone that just calls, just texts, can go online and takes semi decent pictures, the Sony Ericsson K800 is still king in my books, and you can pick one up for £50 off ebay ;)

OK, you look like a tool with no concept of money, or the free market and believe that monopolies are good for the market.

I'm puzzled now. Can you explain the free market bit? Are you saying I dont understand the concept? What has this got to do with my iphone?
