Unless you're playing a computer game you don't have a transfer 'budget' very often I'm sure, it's more about convincing everyone a certain deal is good value. Say you have a 250k-500k budget and Messi is available at 750K or even 3 million, obviously we wouldn't turn it down (wage budget maybe more of a real world factor though!) where-as we might not buy a 39 year old from non league for 250k even if Gus thought he was amazing and answer to our problems.

Murray to leave I'm afraid. (REALLY don't want him to go, but with contract not signed it's looking increasingly likely)

He told The Argus: “We have started discussing things already, without talking directly to the players yet.

“In January I will probably start talking to the players on a very individual basis, then you need to manage it. I hope we can manage it very well. I am sure there won’t be any problems or issues like last year."

Perhaps that would explain why Murray hasn't signed a contract yet? We're still in December.
