I think there is a big difference between speculating about the transfer kitty, discussing what could/should be spent, and believing we "have a right to know".

As fans of this club we are all invested in the clubs future, all want to see the club grow, and for some this includes discussing how the squad will shape up, how much is available, etc. Why such attitude towards someone who wants to discuss it?

Nah, they couldn't even beat spurs,and now they're only 3pts outside the relegation zone. We probably won't have time to nurse them out of the depression their season has become.

Bullshit arguement in the early part of this thread regarding if it is the fans business to know how much we have to spend. The club would be at a serious disadvantage if they disclosed how much they had to spend negotiations wise. This is not only confirmed but also the only policy that makes sense. What club in their right mind would release a statement confirming an exact transfer kitty.

The idea of the poll was to gauge fan opinion on the subject. Gus has already publicly stated on a couple of occasions that he is confident TB will provide the finance if he identifies an individual he wants to sign so it's hardly a secret to other clubs that we have some funds in the coffers.

sorry but to call it a bullshit argument is to deny fans the right to speculate.

No-one is asking the club to tell-all in advance and no-one expects to know anything beforehand and probably not after the event either. But it doesn't mean we can't have a guess at the sort of player we are looking for and the sort of money it might cost. With Bosman frees and agents' fees and all the rest of modern transfer dealings we will doubtless only ever be told that someone signed for an "undisclosed fee" at best but it's all part of the FUN to guess and there's no harm whatsoever in that. It certainly doesn't impact on real-world negotiations and there isn't anyone involved in any transfer dealings that takes any notice of the fans' conjecture so why not just enjoy the fun.

Oh was I not referring to the arguement between a few posters about a right to know or the thread itself then? Maybe read more carefully, the thread is prob just a bit of fun but the 'right to know' arguement was pointless

I would therefore assume somewhere in the region of £250 - £500k on physical transfer or signing on fees.

Spoke with a very good friend of mine who is in the know (or so he says) and he assures me that Noone (no news here) and a 400k striker will be unveiled in a weeks time. Apparently only 4 people know who said striker is (Gus, Tanno, Oatway and Bloom)

I hate speculation, but wanted to share what I had heard. If correct that suggests 650k. Guess we might sell someone to help with this? Murray maybe?

The point I'm making that as the weather is so crap and the TV is even worse a lot of people seem to be rather bored. I think the Noone rumour has some substance given that Plymouth need the money but the problem here is that whilst we might be able to pay a big transfer fee for a player it's what his pay will be and how it would affect the club's wage structure. I have a feeling that we could come up with the money for a transfer fee all along bout it's the wages that have been the stumbling block.

I wasn't saying you're wrong - merely pointing out that we probably won't know in a week. Transfer window opens in a week but often most business is done towards the end of the window. So could be weeks before all becomes clear.
