What does this mean for LYNCH?

A bit like how Hammond was rubbish but then our midfield went to pieces when he left.

A bit like how Kazim-Richards was crap, until he popped up at the Euros and in the Champions League.

Some Brighton fans have not got a clue...

Yes you dont have a clue, someone like Lynch who if he is dropped gets in a strop and demands to leave is someone I dont want at my club I want players who are willing to fight to get back into the team not give up and demand a move within 3-4 games of being dropped.
Sure, players like Hawkins might not be brilliant but if they are willing to fight for thier position in the team and dont give up I would have them in the team all day long over lynch

But what if SLADE wants him back?

If Slade wants him stead of the cash I trust his judgement fully and will give my full backing to him im just not convinced Virgs & Elphick should be broken apart just to satisfy Lynch, and not for the best of the team if they are to be broken apart I would hope its not just because lynch will leave if he doesnt get first team action.

I don't remember Lynch's costing us a GREAT deal.

Unless people want to harp on about his performance against Mansfield when he played despite having the flu.

I usually agree with lot of what you say, but you are obviously looking back on Lynch in a favourable light.

Yes is was a quality defender with lots of potential; big, strong, and good in the air. BUT he has cost us as many goals with his mistakes as anyone in the last three or four years. His solid and efficient displays were perennially marked by lapses is concentration and poor mistakes.

He is a good player and I would like to see him back at the club, but not if he doesn't want to be here. I also don't think we will miss him greatly with a central defensive partnership of Virgo and Elphick.

RUDDY hell. People have short memories. Earlier in the season people were moaning about hows Virgo must have some sort of contract which says he must play every week (something which quite clearly was a ludicrous suggestion).

I was never convinced the flourishing Elphick and Lynch partnership should have been broken up to accomodate HAWKINS purely because he was one of Adams' men.

But what if SLADE wants him back?

If he does, then great. Bit I still think that Lynch will want to stay at Forest and play in the Championship next season.

Also, the money from his sale could be used to buy one top quality League one midfielder which I thibk we need far more than we need Lynch.

Maybe getting dropped was not the reason he wanted to get away? Maybe there was a clash of personalities with Adams or maybe he was pissed off with the club over the way Dean Wilkins was treated? None of us know the real reason why he left but on a personal note I'd still like to see him back in the stripes.

This was around January time actually and everyone was unhappy because he was being played in the wrong position every game and it was crazy that adams was playing him in the midfield even on the wing thats what made people say this, Everyone knew he has talent as a CB as he says himself he was glad that Slade started to play him in CB because he was being played in ridiculous positions:rolleyes:

The other thng is that be Slade mentioning how highly he rates Lynch his price has just gone up aother 50k. It was clear to everyone that Lynch and Adams weren't going to work with each other so Forest would have offered a cheap 'take it or leave it' offer but now with Slade he can up his demands and if Forest don't want to meet them we'll have him back.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that even if Slade want Lynch back here, at least initially it probably won't be his decision.

It will be firstly Lynch, then Forest if a deal can be done.

He is contracted to us. If Slade wants him back he is obliged to come back.

Hopefully, they can all sit down like adults and sort this mess out.

That is true, but will it be that simple in reality?

Surely Slade won't want a player that doesn't really want to be here.

I agree with you that Lynch is a class player, but I feel it is now only about getting the best deal possible for him (and us!).

Lynch and Elphick were arguably the best centre-back partnership in the division last year, keeping clean sheets away at free-scoring Leeds and Forest shows how solid they were together. It's imperative that Lynch is kept if we want to progress to the next level.

Of course if Lynch wants to leave there is little point keeping him.

But look at the effect Slade has had on rejuvinating Cox, Fraser, Loft, Hart et al. The players seem to love him and hopefully he can work his magic with Joel.

....Some Brighton fans have not got a clue...

Were you looking in the mirror when you wrote that?

Virgo has been the lynchpin of our defence since Slade started playing him in the correct position (and that wasn't a pun). I also think that we see Lynch as something that he never was - a talented and consistent player. He was sometimes a liability - remember the dummy he tried to sell Tyson last year? That was telegraphed and Tyson just nicked it off him and cracked it home.

Even if Lynch hadn't disowned the Albion I would have doubts about his right to an automatic position. He would either replace Elphick at CB or fill in at LB until McNulty was fit (and not a moment longer).

Not sure how anyone can suggest that either Virgo or Elphick are replaced by someone who has stated he does not want to play for us. Since Virgo has been played in his correct position he and Elphick have started to forge a great understanding, one which resulted in a much needed clean sheet on Saturday. Both Elphick and Virgo have been superb in recent weeks, Elphick has played when he was not 100% and Virgo as captain has led the team with passion and committment.

Yes he sometimes lumps tha ball forward (he is a centre half) The trouble with ball playing centre halfs like Lynch is that they often think their ability will enable them to play themselves out of trouble and as a result they will concede possession and goals.

Would be happy for Lynch to sign for Forest and use any funds generated to get Dicker signed asap.

That is very demeaning about other fans' opinions and very pompous.

After all you are only expressing your opinion. It doesn't make you right or wrong, and some will agree with you and some won't.

For what it's worth, I was a huge fan of Lynch initially and I really thought he would turn out to be one of the best players we have ever had at the club. However, in my opinion, he became a disappointment. Still good but prone to too many errors to live up to my first impression. His refusal to play for us had nothing to do with that, although that, in itself, is unacceptable.

I'd be pleased if he came back but, at the start of next season, I would pick Virgo ahead of him based on the latter's recent performances alongside Elphick. After that if Virgo had some less than good performances or was injured, Lynch would be in and have the chance to prove, once and for all, that he is is good as his early promise and the billing some give him.

I have my doubts but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

if Lynch comes back he will play second fiddle to Elphick and Virgo and rightly so. Whether that would be enough for him playing 20 or so games a season in league 1 is a different matter but he would be a dam lot better than the cover we currently have of El-Abd and Donkey.

I hope Lynch comes back especially as we need cover for Mcnulty but he is not the guy who will sit around on the bench and i really think he won't want to return after being played regularly at a higher level all season.
