What does this mean for LYNCH?

At the time Hawkins and the rest of the defence was doing pretty well and keeping clean sheets, Hawkins only went shit after Lynch had left.

Exactly and anyway it doesn't matter who was in the team in his place he should accept it as the manager's decision. He threw his toys out of the pram and made it clear that he did not want to play for the club (ironically he reportedly even refused to play in the Walsall game which would have left him an almost certainty for Man City). Personally, I would support if he came back and apologised to the fans but would still have concerns.

And he wasn't being MANAGED properly.

He sat out games under Wilkins and was ok. Then again, he wasn't sitting them out in place of Colin Hawkins...

Hawkins was playing well then and Lynch had been injured, so Hawkins had the place by right. Hawkins never refound his form after he got injured a few games in, Lynch would have played the week he threw his toys out of his pram and demanded to go, showing no loyalty to the club, manger or the fans.

Maybe Lynch was happy to sit out under Wilkins because of his youth team connections, or maybe this season his agent had become involved, telling him to move after missing the first couple of games to further his career, if that was the case, he wouldn't want to take a backwards step and return to us.

I don't remember Lynch's costing us a GREAT deal.

Unless people want to harp on about his performance against Mansfield when he played despite having the flu.

Hawkins was NEVER good. People were just still seeing things through ADAMS tinted glasses.

Crap. Hawkins was really solid until his first injury and then was rushed back too quickly for the Northampton game which was when his problems started. However, don't let facts get in the way of your defence of Joel Lynch's sulk. To be honest, I think (other than you) the person who rates Lynch highest is Lynch and that is a major part of his problem.

I am hopeful that Hawkins can be like Guy Butters and come back fit and stronger next season and be decent competition for Virgs and Elphick and would allow Lynch to leave (depending on the fee offered).

How about Forest home last season as a classic example but I can't be bothered to list them all. There was rarely a game when he didn't make the crowd panic at some point.

If we have Hawkins at centre back we will not get anywhere near promotion.

I bet you were saying that after Guy Butters first season. I am not saying he will turn it round but a fit Hawkins could have something to offer the team. At least he wants to play for us but I am sure you would rather write off our players.

A bit like how Hammond was rubbish but then our midfield went to pieces when he left.

A bit like how Kazim-Richards was crap, until he popped up at the Euros and in the Champions League.

Some Brighton fans have not got a clue...

Hawkins was rubbish and the fact he got no where near the team once fit under Slade speaks for itself.
Lynch may have made a few mistakes but people forget the good games (Leeds away last season) and the good things he did which far out weigh the bad. The fact he has been playing regular in a team in the above league shows that he is a good player

Although he would be an asset at this level, I think Lynch will want to stay at Forest (assuming they want him) after a reasonably succesful loan spell.

If we were to get £350k ish for him then we could use that to go towards 3 decent midfielders we need (inc Dicker).

Is anyone saying Lynch is rubbish? No. I always rated Hammond and still feel we have yet to replace him and Kazim-Richards was always talented but couldn't be bothered to show it for us. That is where we obviously differ as I want players who want to play for the club and if they don't then they can leave. If you are happy to watch a load of prima donas who aren't bothered and think they should be in a higher league, then good for you but I am not.

I don't think his ability is in question (least not by me anyway), but I think he will only come back if Forest can't agree a deal with us.
