PPF is just vomiting up headlines.

He won't be aware of the origins of the ECHR, who David Maxwell Fyfe was, and how Winston Churchill was a driving force behind it.

AS for the RNLI, they are just doing their job. Any more from PPF will probably cost me money as it will motivate me to increase my donation.

'awareness'? PPF?

Those terms never belong together......

But I’m talking about the behaviour of the Police on the French side, I can’t be alone in thinking how callous that is knowing these people could be heading for certain death and do nothing, I apologise for the Janet & John reference, you’re one of the nicest people to debate with on here and I’m afraid you caught me on the back end of dealing with a troll, please accept my apologies.

So....you absolutely don't want refugees over here but oh, you really care about their safety and well being.....hmmm

Yes or no, should the French Police intervene when these people take their boats into the sea right in front of them?

it's a tricky one, what crime are they commiting? If I went to the coast and got in a boat would I be breaking the law?

Warning: persistent anti-social behaviour

Possibly by giving the benefit of the doubt more often than we should, NSC seems to have arrived at a place where some quite unpleasant views are aired too often by a small subset of people on here.

Generally, these people attempt to be clever and stay the right side of the offensive line by being a bit vague and/or feigning innocence when called out.

This serves, at times, to create an unpleasant atmosphere which is not what I want NSC to be about.

So this is going to change immediately.

The benefit of the doubt will not be given any more. If you make a habit of writing in a way that largely seeks to diminish, belittle, undermine, divide, discriminate and mock then your days on NSC will be numbered, and I will give no apology for kicking you off here, for good, without further warning.

If you think this is aimed at you, it very probably is, so this is your opportunity to desist, and play a little more nicely.

Fortunately this warning doesn't apply to 99%+ of people who use NSC, who can merrily go on using the site just as they always have done.

Tricky lmfao they're making a illegal crossing of the English channel after leaving a safe country, go through the legal channels like everyone else does show your ID

No you wouldn’t be breaking the law, however knowing that 30 people lost their lives doing similar the Police surely have a duty of care?

Is it against the law to throw yourself in front of a train? If a Police officer spots someone who looks like they are doing that are you saying they shouldn’t get involved?

It is against the law to throw yourself in front of a train.
It is not illegal to cross the channel to seek asylum.

So the French have a duty of care and the UK has a right to not care? Are the rules different then?

our government want to turn boats away and don't want the RNLI to rescue them but the French should show compassion, rescue them and take them in?

I’ll ask you then, knowing there’s a good chance that these people will be putting their lives at risk, the French Police ( because they’re not breaking the law) should stand by and not intervene?

That’s whataboutism I’m afraid, I’m talking about the French doing nothing, we all know the current Government aren’t fit for purpose, but on that basis should the French do nothing?
