If smoking was banned outright then then the NHS would go bust. Smokers cost the nhs billions but smokers bring in mor. If all smokers stopped over night then everyones taxes would go up 4p in the pound.

Absolutely correct. Us smokers should be front of the queue for any operations and treatments as a result. After all we paid for it as well someone else's gastric band operation!
Smoking is an addiction. Being over weight is just greed!

No we do not need a smoking area !

Have any of you actually read the nsc thread which started off as one guy announcing his intention to stop smoking and has developed into a little online support group. These peeps are working really hard to quit - it's so tough and they do not need any stumbling blocks right under their noses every time they go to football.

And I am speaking as one of the Seagulls Six who several moons ago helped to launch Albion's health promotion activities. With support from the club I finally gave up smoking for good so I know just how hard it is.

They've banned e cigs? f*** that. I "smoke" that on buses, trains etc etc. They can sod off if they think they can stop me doing that. Breaks no laws.
that was my argument when i emailed the club about the issue over the summer. the official reason (from hebberd) they were banned is that in the clubs view, certain people were using them to cause a confrontation with the stewards.
i didnt get it either, but was informed they ARE banned, and thats the bottom line

Just one question, and I ask this purely out of curiosity and no more:

How do the smokers on here manage if you go on a long haul flight where smoking is out of the question?

What makes you believe that your views are more important than others? Do you drive? Stop it! Do you eat meat? Stop it! Do you fly? Stop it! Do you do any kind of risky pursuit, which may lead you to have an increased risk of needing NHS treatment? STOP NOW!

To be fair, if you read his post nowhere does he suggest his view is more important than anyone else's. He just made the sensible suggestion that giving up might be a good idea. I'd have thought everyone, both smokers and non-smokers, would agree that potentially shortening your life by smoking isn't that sensible ? The choice to do so is obviously an individuals ..... for now.

... and it hasn't been "cool" for 20 years. If it stops smokers from going to the Amex, all the better. If you can't go a couple of hours without one you need to sort your life out.
That's like telling you to hold out for a pi$$ for 2 hours when you are gagging for a pi$$.Thats the sort of comments i expect from non smokers anyway:annoyed:

I am an ex smoker and now hate the smoke and smell of people sparking up around me, so having a dedicated area makes perfect sense. When I smoked I would have wanted it, and by having it means that us self righteous non smokers can get on with our smoke free lives in bliss, without leaving the ground after a game and everyone lighting up straight away.

I'll tell you what they do need to do ant that is STOP letting people have a fag DIRECTLY outside the exits of the North Stand after games. It really is horrible having to walk past loads of people having a fag on the way out all because they cant be bothered to walk an extra 15 yards to stand out of the way.
